European Plastics Converters (EuPC), Petcore Europe and Plastics Europe oppose the planned increase in the EU plastic levy from €0.80 to €1 per kilogram of non-recycled plastic packaging waste, warning it will not improve environmental outcomes but will weaken the competitiveness of European industry and accelerate deindustrialisation. The organisations argue the proceeds should flow into a dedicated fund to support the circular economy.
