Several converters have confirmed that they will maintain production on 29–30 December, as they have orders for finished products. As a result, trading companies will be able to continue selling and looking for customers this week, if they deem it appropriate. Prices are expected to stabilize, with demand remaining low.
Some converters expect polypropylene prices to rise next month, which is why they were willing to make purchases in December, especially in the homopolymer segment.
As in the polyethylene market, after the Christmas and New Year period, the PP market in Poland is not expected to recover until 12 January. At the same time, high purchasing activity is not anticipated. Suppliers will seek to raise prices, and it is highly likely that some customers will accept the new price levels.
Market observations:
- Demand for homopolymers remained moderate.
- PP prices from Asia increased by at least EUR 10-20/t, and the cheapest grades disappeared from the market.
- Average PP homo prices in Poland rose by another EUR 10/t, most likely the last price adjustment this year.
- Interest in PP copo from converters weakened, while traders' stocks of this material declined.
- European polypropylene also rose by around EUR 10/t.
