From 30 March to 1 April 2026, the tenth edition of plast & printpack alger will take place in Algiers. The event will again be held at the Palais des Expositions – SAFEX exhibition centre, bringing together more than 280 exhibitors from 22 countries. The trade fair is organised by fairtrade in cooperation with Messe Düsseldorf. The event serves as a central B2B platform for the plastics, printing and packaging industries in Algeria and North Africa, connecting international producers, technology suppliers and professional visitors. The international profile of the show is underlined by the participation of companies from Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
Scope and focus on sustainability
The key topics of plast & printpack alger 2026 include recycling technologies, sustainable materials, energy- and resource-efficient manufacturing processes and circular value chain models. With this thematic focus, the trade fair reflects the direction of industrial modernisation in Algeria, geared towards more sustainable and technologically upgraded industrial production.
The organisers emphasise that the event is intended to support investment in state-of-the-art plant equipment, the development of local manufacturing, the strengthening of export potential and the reduction of dependence on imports. An important aspect is the promotion of technologies that enable efficient use of raw materials and a reduction of environmental impact while maintaining the competitiveness of the plastics processing and packaging industries.
After its debut in 2025, the state-owned energy company Sonatrach has once again confirmed its participation in the 2026 edition. Its presence reflects the growing importance of an integrated value chain that includes raw material production and downstream processing in the plastics industry. The participation of a raw material producer demonstrates the link between the petrochemical sector and the developing plastics processing and packaging market.
Market trends and growing investment in technology
Industry figures quoted by the organisers indicate a clear dynamic of investment in Algeria. Imports of plastics processing technology increased on average by 34.6% per year between 2020 and 2024, making Algeria currently the largest importer of plastics technology in Africa. This shows that the country is intensively expanding its production capacities in this segment.
Algeria also plays an important role in the field of packaging technology on the continent, with imports worth 225 million euros. Growth is also being recorded in the segments of plastic pipes and printing and paper technologies. These indicators confirm the country's strategic focus on expanding production capacities in the processing industry and on increasing its competitiveness on international markets.
The growing interest in solutions for packaging and printing, as well as for plastic pipe infrastructure, points to the development of both industrial sectors and infrastructure investments. In this context, plast & printpack alger provides a platform for presenting technologies across the entire value chain, from raw materials and machinery to solutions for finished products.
Institutional support and exhibition structure
Plast & printpack alger benefits from the support of numerous international associations and institutions. Among the organisations involved are ACIMGA, Advantage Austria, AHK Alger, AMAPLAST, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, the Italian Trade Agency, the Turkish Ministry of Trade and the VDMA association. The presence of these bodies strengthens the status of the event as a platform for cooperation between the machinery industry, raw material suppliers and processors of plastics and packaging.
The exhibition is clearly structured into three main areas: plastics processing machinery, printing and packaging technologies, and raw materials. This segmentation enables participants to quickly navigate the offer and current technology trends. Visitors can obtain an overview of solutions for the entire production and processing chain in one place, from raw material stages to packaging and printing technologies.
Plast alger is a member of K-Alliance. Under this umbrella brand, Messe Düsseldorf, the organiser of K, regarded as the world's leading trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry, consolidates its global activities in this sector. Membership in K-Alliance links plast alger to an international network of trade fairs focused on technologies for the polymer and rubber industry.
Visitor registration for plast alger is carried out online, and detailed information about the event, including the programme and exhibitors, is available on the organiser's website. In addition, interested parties can obtain information on the next edition of the K trade fair, scheduled for 2028 in Düsseldorf, via the official website k-online.com.
