Syensqo and Bucci Composites advance automotive composites

Syensqo and Bucci Composites…

Syensqo has entered into a partnership with Bucci Composites to accelerate the development of high-volume composites manufacturing for the automotive industry. The agreement includes a license for Syensqo’s Double Diaphragm Forming, DDF, technology, as well as joint activities related to the qualification of innovative material solutions for the production of parts for OEMs. According to the companies, the collaboration is intended to support the advancement of composites manufacturing for the automotive sector and the preparation of materials for implementation in key applications. DDF is an advanced composite forming technology developed by Syensqo. It enables a highly automated, single-step process that makes it possible to produce parts with high quality and repeatable parameters while significantly reducing cycle time. According to the information provided by the companies, this solution can reduce total cost of ownership by simplifying logistics, improving part accuracy, and optimizing capital investment through integration with existing manufacturing infrastructure.

Scope of the cooperation

Bucci Composites, which specializes in the design and manufacture of structural composite parts, will combine its expertise in composite manufacturing with DDF technology. The goal is to qualify Syensqo’s innovative resin systems tailored for automotive applications. The companies emphasize that the cooperation builds on many years of relations between the two organizations.

Andrea Bedeschi, Managing Director at Bucci Composites, said: "Licensing Syensqo’s DDF technology and working together on material qualification allows us to strengthen our capabilities and address OEMs’ increasing need for higher-volume production of structural parts, bodywork components, battery enclosures, and many other applications."

Technology and applications

According to the information presented by the parties, combining the proprietary DDF technology with advanced prepreg systems is intended to enable faster and more cost-efficient composites manufacturing. The solution is aimed at automotive applications, including structural elements, bodywork parts, and battery enclosures.

Gaurav Unni, Global Sales Leader Automotive Composites at Syensqo, added: "This agreement highlights the value of combining our proprietary DDF technology with advanced prepreg systems to enable faster, more cost-efficient composite manufacturing."
