First PA66 spinning plant with EvoQuench success-fully commissioned

First PA66 spinning plant…

Shandong Nanshan Fashion Technology Co., Ltd. has commissioned a new multi-line PA66 spinning plant for microfiber yarns, integrating yarn production into its existing textile value chain. The installation, supplied by Barmag, is described as the world's first PA66 spinning plant operated in combination with an EvoQuench radial quenching system. According to the company, the line achieved high plant efficiency and stable, high-quality yarn data from the start of operation. The microfiber yarns are used internally in Nanshan Fashion's downstream textile production stages, supporting the company’s strategy to strengthen control over key process steps and product quality within its fashion business.

Performance of the new PA66 microfiber spinning line

The PA66 spinning installation is designed for large-scale production of high-quality microfiber yarns. From the first year of operation, the yarn produced on the Barmag plant has reportedly established itself as a first-class product in terms of both quality and price. This performance is presented as a basis for supporting the internationalization of Nanshan Fashion’s brands, as the company aims to compete in higher value textile and apparel markets.

The EvoQuench radial quenching system plays a central role in the process configuration. In this setup, radial quenching is used to cool the extruded PA66 filaments, contributing to yarn consistency and enabling efficient microfiber production. The system configuration is aimed at combining process stability with the fine deniers required for microfiber applications.

Market demand for polyamide yarn systems

The PA66 project at Nanshan Fashion is positioned as part of a broader trend in the market for polyamide yarn systems. Barmag reports growing interest in polyamide yarn plants, with a particular focus on PA66. Barmag Sales Director Jens Schumacher is quoted as saying: "We are seeing increased interest in polyamide yarn plants. PA66 is a particular focus." He adds: "We have recently signed contracts for two more similar projects in East Asia." These statements indicate that investments in PA66 spinning capacity are not limited to a single site but are part of a wider regional expansion in East Asia.

One of the factors highlighted is the wearing comfort of polyamide compared to polyester. According to Barmag, the more comfortable wearing properties of polyamide justify a higher yarn price in the market, making polyamide yarn production economically attractive despite higher raw material and production costs relative to polyester. In this context, the combination of PA66 spinning with EvoQuench radial quenching is presented as a solution that supports efficient production of microfiber yarns, which are widely used in applications where soft hand, good drape and fine surface structure are required.

Strategic cooperation between Barmag and Nanshan Fashion

The PA66 project is embedded in a broader strategic partnership between the equipment supplier and the textile producer. At the end of 2023, Barmag and Nanshan Fashion signed a strategic cooperation agreement covering polyamide POY (partially oriented yarn) and DTY (draw textured yarn). This agreement laid the foundation for chemical fiber production at Nanshan Fashion and formalized cooperation on technology and equipment for polyamide yarn manufacturing.

Nanshan Fashion is part of the publicly traded Nanshan Group and is listed among the top 500 companies in China. By extending its activities into the production of PA6 and PA66 yarn grades, the company aims to cover a broader section of the textile value chain, from fiber and yarn through to finished fashion products. The cooperation with Barmag on POY and DTY systems, combined with the first PA66 spinning plant with EvoQuench radial quenching, marks a significant step in the company’s development of in-house chemical fiber capabilities.
