Sikora presents new measuring systems at wire 2026

Sikora presents new measuring…

Sikora, a manufacturer of measuring, control and sorting systems for the cable industry, will present its full range of solutions for quality control and cost optimization in extrusion and cable processing at wire 2026 in Düsseldorf (13–17 April, Hall 9, Booth A41). Visitors will be able to see premieres of new devices, live demonstrations and practical examples of the use of X-ray, laser and optical technologies.

The trade fair campaign slogan "Technology To Perfection" is intended to reflect the company’s approach to the design of control and measuring systems, consistently developed for more than 50 years. The portfolio includes solutions for diameter, wall thickness and eccentricity measurement, monitoring of pellet purity for cable insulation, as well as software for early detection of quality fluctuations in production lines.

New Laser Pro: high-speed diameter measurement up to 110 mm

At wire 2026 Sikora will present another device from the Laser Pro series for non-contact cable diameter measurement. The new Laser Pro series is characterized by a measuring rate that is ten times higher than that of the well-known Laser Series 2000 measuring heads. The model on display complements the existing range of Laser Pro heads and enables measurement of products with diameters of up to 110 mm.

The diameter range means that the device is primarily intended for larger cables, such as high-voltage conductors and sheathing systems. For smaller diameters, other heads from this series are available, covering products from 0.1 to 51 mm. The increased measuring speed is important for precise real-time process control, especially in high-speed lines.

“Technology To Perfection” campaign

The trade fair campaign slogan "Technology To Perfection" summarizes the key premise of the Sikora brand, namely delivering technology precisely tailored to individual user requirements and aimed at ensuring a lasting competitive advantage.

The campaign presents the main product benefits both visually and in terms of content, giving each system its own identity. The concepts "The Original", "The High Speeder", "The Excentric", "The Allrounder" and "The Accurate" are used to highlight the key characteristics of each product group, such as the long-established position of an original solution on the market, maximum measuring speed, specialization in eccentricity measurement, application flexibility or high metrological accuracy.

X-Ray 8000 Advanced: material savings and process stability

In energy cable production, the X-Ray 8000 system has been regarded for more than 30 years as the original solution and the global industry standard in CV lines. Installed directly after the extrusion head, the system measures wall thickness, eccentricity and diameter, quickly and with high accuracy. The measured values are immediately available for centering and control, allowing process parameters to be optimally set right at the beginning of the line.

Continuous operation with this system enables a wall thickness reduction of around 5%. This translates into significant material and cost savings. The applied XLL X-ray technology is designed as a durable solution contributing to a long system service life. Special self-cleaning NTX measuring windows, free of toxic substances, are intended to ensure safe and healthy operation in the CV line.

A material saving of 5% corresponds to a CO2 reduction of around 375 tons per year. This is comparable to approximately 125 round-trip flights between Frankfurt and New York. In this way X-Ray 8000 Advanced is intended to significantly support efforts towards more sustainable cable production.

Purity Scanner Advanced: clean pellets for power cable insulation

In the production of high-voltage and submarine cables, maximum material purity is crucial, as even very small contaminants can impair insulation properties. The Purity Scanner Advanced system uses X-ray technology and optical cameras to detect contamination in plastics such as XLPE or PP, including metallic particles larger than 50 µm, and to automatically remove them from the process.

This ensures that only clean pellets are processed further. It minimizes the risk of electrical breakdowns, increases process stability and product quality and reduces the costs of potential consequential damage. At wire, the system’s functions and benefits will be demonstrated using a hybrid exhibit.

X-Ray 6000 Pro and X-Ray 6000 Pure for insulation and jacketing lines

The X-Ray 6000 Pro system is another member of Sikora’s family of X-ray-based measuring systems. It provides continuous measurements of wall thickness, eccentricity and diameter in insulation and jacketing lines. Measurement results are displayed on the screen of the Ecocontrol 6000 processor system.

X-Ray 6000 Pro is a universal solution that can be installed after the extruder, between two cooling sections or at the end of the line for cold measurement. From the first day of operation, the device allows wall thickness to be reduced to the minimum permissible value, which provides users with tangible material and cost savings. In parallel, the X-Ray 6000 Pure system will be presented, designed for jacketing lines where single-layer products or total wall thickness are measured.

LM Pro: accurate, non-contact length and speed measurement

For the first time in public, Sikora will present its LM Pro length measuring system. The device measures length and speed without contact, with a declared accuracy of +/- 0.05%. The system also offers direction and standstill detection as well as reliable measurements from 0 m/min.

Because there is no mechanical contact, slip and wear of measuring elements are eliminated. After one-time commissioning and setup, no further calibration is required, which is intended to ensure permanently accurate measurement with low service requirements.

LPO: Line Performance Optimizer for early detection of quality fluctuations

The Line Performance Optimizer (LPO) is new software developed to detect quality fluctuations in production lines at an early stage. In cable production, particularly for the automotive sector and data cables for applications related to artificial intelligence, consistent product quality is crucial for performance and process stability. Even when production remains within tolerance limits, creeping trends, cycles or short-term disturbances can impair quality, which is not always visible when using classic indicators such as standard deviation or conventional tolerance monitoring.

LPO analyzes high-resolution individual measurement values without averaging them and combines data from all Sikora measuring devices connected to the Ecocontrol processor system. The user obtains a transparent overview of the quality level of the entire line. Deviations, referred to as noise levels, can be detected at an early stage, localized and corrected using the operator’s experience, which supports process stabilization and maintaining a high production quality level. The production quality level is visualized on the Ecocontrol screen.

Fiber Series 6000: high measuring rate for precise fiber tension control

Measuring heads from the Fiber Series 6000 are designed to monitor the quality of optical fibers. They control the entire fiber drawing process, from diameter measurement, fiber position, vibration frequency and temperature to detection of air lines and knots, enabling precise process control.

Particularly important is the measuring rate of the Fiber Tension 6003 head of up to 50 kHz, which enables optimal fiber tension measurement. For this reason, the head is intended for the production of premium-grade optical fibers. Visitors to wire will be able to observe the operation of the heads in live demonstrations.

Service To Perfection: system availability and practical training

Sikora’s service team in Bremen and in its worldwide subsidiaries is responsible for the reliability and availability of the company’s measuring and control systems. At wire, the company will present its full range of services, from installation and commissioning of devices, through individual consulting, to practical training in system operation tailored to specific user requirements.

Interactive activities are also planned for visitors at the booth, with the opportunity to win discount vouchers, for example for training courses at the Sikora Academy.

At wire, Sikora will present both its technologies and its comprehensive portfolio of service offerings.
