Evonik to present material solutions at Chinaplas 2026

Evonik to present material…

Evonik will present its high-performance polymers and plastic additives at Chinaplas 2026. The company said the exhibit will include solutions related to sustainability, energy transition, the low-altitude economy, smart manufacturing, personalized healthcare and the circular economy. According to the company, the transformation of Chinese industry toward advanced, intelligent and greener production is increasing the importance of material innovation as a factor supporting high-quality and sustainable industrial development.

Xia Fuliang, President of Evonik Greater China, said that "Material innovation is the core driving force for industrial development and sustainable transformation. Evonik is committed to breaking the boundaries of material science through cross-industry collaboration and local R&D investment, creating more possibilities for future industrial development." According to the company, the fair will feature technologies developed globally while also tailored to the needs of the Chinese market. These are intended to support, among others, new energy vehicles, energy storage systems, low-altitude aircraft, green hydrogen, premium consumer goods and personalized healthcare.

The presentation will also focus on solutions for plastics processing and recycling. The company says it will show materials and additives addressing requirements related to safety, performance, weight reduction and improved recyclate quality. The trade fair program will also include an expert presentation devoted to the use of silica in the plastics industry.

Solutions for e-mobility and thermal management

With the rapid growth of China’s new energy vehicle sector, Evonik intends to place particular emphasis on thermal management issues that are important from the perspective of battery safety and performance. The company will present Vestamid PA12 materials, which according to the information provided offer very good chemical resistance and high-temperature performance. They are used in battery cooling lines, busbars and energy storage systems, where they are intended to meet requirements for efficient heat dissipation and stable long-term operation.

The company also states that Vestamid PA12 can be used in data center cooling systems, which is linked to the development of infrastructure for artificial intelligence and the digital economy. Beyond thermal management, Evonik materials are also intended for key automotive components such as electric drive systems and transmissions. At the Shanghai Innovation Park, the new Evonik PEEK Rectangular Magnet Wire Lab is operating and is to focus on research and development for motor applications in new energy vehicles, as well as on the further development of lightweight and high-performance solutions. Among the products on display will be gears made of VestaKeep PEEK, intended for use in automotive transmissions.

Materials for low-altitude aviation and new structures

Evonik also refers to the development of the so-called low-altitude economy, indicated in China as one of the important directions of development. In response to the needs of new aircraft designs such as eVTOL, the company will present Rohacell PMI foam. The material is described as very lightweight and at the same time strong, which allows it to be used in the design of critical structural components of electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. According to the manufacturer, this solution supports both weight reduction and safety requirements.

The fair will also feature solutions based on Vestamid PA12 for thermal management systems in low-altitude aircraft. According to the company, chemical resistance and properties at elevated temperatures are expected to support the safe and stable operation of batteries and power systems under demanding operating conditions, while also improving aircraft performance and reliability.

Personalized medicine and 3D printing

In the area of personalized healthcare, Evonik points to progress achieved thanks to materials for medical applications. Patient-matched cranial implants manufactured using VestaKeep Fusion filaments have received China’s first registration certificate for medical-grade devices produced using FDM additive manufacturing. The company stresses that this is an important step for the development of personalized healthcare in that market.

In addition, products made from VestaKeep i4 3DF for spinal implants have received the first registration certificate in China issued by the NMPA. According to the company, this material can support a higher level of safety and precision in orthopedic surgery. With regard to additive manufacturing, Evonik, which describes itself as a pioneer in polymer 3D printing, will also present Infinam PA12 products. This material is said to combine high strength, chemical resistance and good processing properties, making it suitable for precision manufacturing, customized parts and small-batch production for sectors such as automotive, consumer goods and medical devices.

Elastomers and nonwovens for consumer goods

In the premium consumer goods segment, the company will present Vestamid PEBA elastomers. According to the manufacturer, the material combines low weight, high impact resistance and flexibility, which is why it can be used in midsoles and outsoles for higher-end sports footwear. Evonik indicates that the material can improve comfort and durability while also addressing brands’ demand for high-performance and more sustainable solutions.

The booth will also feature melt-blown nonwoven fabrics made from Vestamid. Filament materials of this type are intended, among other things, for textile and filtration applications. According to the company, their low weight and performance characteristics support the production of shoe uppers and premium apparel fabrics. Evonik also announced that the PA12 polymerization reactor project in Shanghai entered the trial production phase at the end of 2025, which resulted in a doubling of long-chain polyamide production capacity in Asia.

Plastics recycling and processing additives

In the area of plastics recycling and processing, Evonik is announcing the presentation of additives for recycling and polymer processing. During mechanical recycling, products such as Tego Cycle and Tego Sorb are intended to effectively remove printing inks, packaging labels and residual odors during washing and compounding. This is expected to enable the conversion of contaminated plastic waste into high-quality recyclates.

In addition, Tego PPA processing aids are intended to provide a PFAS-free solution aimed at improving packaging quality and environmental aspects. As part of the event, an expert from the Smart Effects business line will deliver a presentation entitled "Evonik silica in the plastics industry, essential, sustainable and safe" on April 21 at 15:40 in Hall 2.2, booth J80, during the "Tech Talks, 2026 New Materials" session. Visitors will be able to meet company representatives at booth 7.2-C31 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, from April 21 to 24.
