DOMO Chemicals previews polyamide innovations for K 2025

DOMO Chemicals previews polyamide…

DOMO Chemicals will showcase its latest polyamide solutions at K 2025 in Düsseldorf, Hall 6, Booth B28, under the theme “Building the Future Together”. The presentation focuses on sustainability, performance and application-driven engineering for automotive, consumer goods, industrial and electrical and electronics markets, while maintaining supply of polyamide resins and their precursors. According to CEO Yves Bonte, “We are accelerating our journey toward specialized, low-carbon polyamide solutions. Each innovation we showcase at K 2025 is designed to help our customers lead the transition to a more sustainable future, brought to life through a unique experience inspired by the four elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water.” The booth concept links real-world applications to four pillars of innovation. Highlights include mechanical and physical recycling advances, mass-balanced PA6, new Technyl grades for D-LFT, a PA6.10 UD tape as an alternative to PA12 in oil and gas uses, a hybrid molding project with Canyon and ENGEL, and expanded halogen-free flame-retardant materials for e-mobility and E&E, alongside drinking water and food-contact compliant offerings.

Earth, circularity and recycling

DOMO advances mechanical recycling with materials targeting virgin-like performance, including UL-certified grades for E&E and glycol-resistant options for mobility. New at the show, visitors can review components developed via a dissolution recycling pilot conducted jointly by Audi AG, Fraunhofer IVV and DOMO. Enhanced sorting enabled recovery of polyamides from automotive shredder residues, with physical recycling by dissolution yielding high-purity PA6 and PA66. A 30 percent blend using this post-consumer recycled feed from automotive sources was produced. Injection molded components met applicable OEM specifications, indicating the process chain can generate high-quality recyclates from post-consumer automotive streams. Maarten Veevaete, Director of the Application Center at DOMO, noted, “Breakthroughs happen when we combine expertise with strong partnerships. Our pilot project with Audi AG and Fraunhofer IVV shows how complex waste can be transformed into high-performance materials that meet the strictest OEM standards. This is the power of application-driven innovation.”

In addition, DOMO will present Domamid MBB, a mass-balanced, bio-attributed PA6 with up to 69 percent bio-attributed content and ISCC PLUS certification. The grades are positioned to reduce CO2 compared to fossil-based alternatives and are intended for food and pharmaceutical packaging, textiles and as a base resin for advanced engineering plastics.

Air, lightweighting and metal replacement

The company will introduce new Technyl grades optimized for direct long fiber thermoplastic processing, targeting faster cycle times and productivity for large components. A PA6.10-based unidirectional tape provides a sustainable and reliable alternative to PA12 in oil and gas applications, with reduced weight, efficiency benefits and reliability in demanding conditions. A hybrid molding project with Canyon and ENGEL, a finalist at the JEC Innovation Awards, features a one-piece bicycle handlebar produced via gas-assisted injection molding that combines strength with reduced mass.

Fire, safer E&E and e-mobility

DOMO is expanding its halogen-free flame-retardant portfolio with new Technyl Star and Technyl One grades. These materials target improved flow, surface finish and thermal stability, while maintaining flame retardancy after glycol aging for uses such as battery components, charging stations and power electronics housings.

  • Technyl One J 60X1 V50, a UL 94 V0 flame-retardant, highly filled HFFR solution for structural parts in electronics and e-mobility, including car batteries, charging stations and new energy systems. It combines flame retardancy and high-temperature resistance with processability.
  • Technyl Star AF 61SX V30 BK for cooling circuit components in electric vehicles, delivering performance after glycol aging while supporting flammability compliance and mechanical integrity.
  • Technyl Star S 61X1 V30 BK engineered for assembly parts within batteries and power electronics housings.

Water, consumer goods and compliance

Technyl Safe offers drinking water and food contact compliance across PA66 and PA6.10 platforms. The materials are described with chlorine resistance, dimensional stability and high renewable content for targeted applications.
