During the January general assembly of members, the Polish Association of Tire Recyclers introduced changes in the organisation's management. The new president is the former vice president, Andrzej Kubik, who has been associated with the tire and plastics recycling sector for more than three decades. The change is of a developmental nature and is intended to further strengthen the role of the Association as a representative voice of the tire recycling industry in the national waste management system. At the same time, continuity of management activities is maintained thanks to the continued involvement of the previous president. Along with the new leadership, the Association announces an intensification of work on stable market operating rules, in particular in the area of Extended Producer Responsibility.
Change in the management of the association
The decision to change the president of the Polish Association of Tire Recyclers was taken during the general assembly of members held in January this year. The new president is Andrzej Kubik, who had previously served as vice president of the Association. He is a manager and engineer with extensive industrial experience and has for many years actively participated in shaping the development directions of the recycling industry in Poland.
The management change has been described as developmental and aligned with further strengthening the role of the organisation as the voice of the tire recycling sector. The previous president, Marek Sobiecki, remains a member of the Association's management board, which is intended to ensure continuity of activities and support in implementing the adopted strategy of the Association.
Industry experience of the new president
For many years, Andrzej Kubik has been involved in the work of industry and expert bodies related to the circular economy and recycling. In addition to his activities in the Polish Association of Tire Recyclers, he serves as a member of the management board of the Council of the Circular Economy and Recycling Cluster, which has the status of a National Key Cluster. He is also a member of the Council of Experts of the Polish Union of Plastics Converters.
In his previous activities, the new president of the Association has consistently advocated regulatory solutions based on the technological and economic analysis of recycling processes. A key area of interest for him remains the design of the Extended Producer Responsibility system, whose assumptions should take into account reliable technical knowledge and an analysis of the net costs of waste management.
Priorities: stable regulation and the role of recyclers
In the opinion of Andrzej Kubik, the tire recycling sector is currently facing significant regulatory and market challenges. The new president of the Association emphasises the need to create transparent and predictable rules of system operation that will enable the development of recycling enterprises while maintaining high environmental and technological standards.
As stated by Andrzej Kubik, the priority is to strengthen the role of recyclers in shaping regulatory solutions: "The tire recycling industry is currently facing key regulatory and market challenges. The priority is to create stable, transparent and efficient mechanisms for the functioning of the system, which will allow honest entities to develop based on high environmental and technological standards. The Association should actively co-create these solutions, representing the interests of the industry in dialogue with the administration and market partners."
Action directions of the Polish Association of Tire Recyclers
As an industry organisation, the Polish Association of Tire Recyclers declares the continuation of efforts to strengthen the involvement of recyclers in shaping the national system for managing end-of-life tires. In the context of the change of president, an intensification of work is announced to develop stable and transparent market rules, in particular in the area of Extended Producer Responsibility.
The announced approach is to be based on reliable technological knowledge and an analysis of the actual costs of tire recycling processes. At the same time, the Association emphasises the importance of partnership-based dialogue and building a broad consensus among all participants in the system, including public administration, producers, recyclers and other market stakeholders.
The Association also plans to continue and further develop its educational and expert activities. The aim of these efforts is to strengthen the Association's position as a substantive partner for public administration and market entities in developing regulations and systemic solutions related to the management of end-of-life tires and associated waste streams.
