Women in Plastics Italy welcomes you to Greenplast 2025

Women in Plastics Italy welcomes…

Women in Plastics Italy, the association founded in October 2024 with the goal of promoting female talent and fostering an inclusive and sustainable culture within the plastics industry, is proud to be present at Greenplast 2025, from May 27-30 at Rho Fiera Milano, Hall B, Stand B75.

This marks the association’s first official trade fair appearance, a milestone that goes beyond a simple debut. It represents a symbolic step forward, reflecting the growth, determination, and shared energy of a network of professionals united by the mission of Wips-It: to promote inclusivity, social and environmental sustainability, educate the public on the positive applications of plastics, and foster professional networking and collaboration.

Annual Assembly and Association Milestones

Coinciding with Greenplast, the Annual Assembly was held on May 26, providing a key moment for discussion and community building. The 2024 financial report was approved, and a review of past and ongoing initiatives was presented.

During her address, President Miriam Olivi offered a recap of the association’s first seven months of activity, which have seen the community grow to 130 members and gain increasing visibility on both the national and international stages. Key initiatives include:

  • Workshops, professional development sessions, and ongoing training;
  • Networking events, trade fair participation, and informal gatherings to foster authentic professional relationships;
  • Collaborations with youth and universities, introducing younger generations to the dynamic and innovative world of plastics;
  • Media campaigns, via social and traditional media, highlighting the community’s values and success stories.

Wips-It’s commitment to the next generation is further exemplified by its support for “Obiettivo EFFE”, a female empowerment initiative launched by the University of Milan-Bicocca. As part of this, Wips-It was introduced to the Italian Ambassador in Algiers, where discussions began with students from the Université d'Alger Houari Boumedieneon closing the gender gap.

In the coming months, Wips-It will collaborate with the University of Genoa, facilitating dialogue between PhD candidates and professionals in the plastics sector. The association will also continue to promote scholarships for young women, in partnership with Zonta International.

Vice Presidents Erica Canaia and Clelia Petri outlined the work of the association’s task forces - dynamic teams of skilled and proactive volunteers. These groups are crucial to the ongoing growth and organizational strength of Wips-It, and new members are encouraged to join and energize these initiatives further.

The assembly also saw an update to the Board of Directors, with Martina Giatti joining. Luna Artico and Beatrice Monaci stepped down due to recent professional changes, in accordance with the association’s regulations, but will remain active members to ensure continuity of current projects.

A special recognition was also awarded to journalist Cecilia Cantadore, named honorary lifetime member for sparking the very idea that led to the founding of Women in Plastics Italy. Through her series of interviews in Tecnoplast magazine, she gave voice to the stories of many women in the industry, helping build the sense of community and awareness that gave birth to the association.

International Outlook: Wips-It at K 2025 and Beyond

Wips-It has ambitious plans and a growing international vision. Following a recent panel on sustainability at Cirplex in Klagenfurt (May 13), the association will participate in major global industry events:

  • Plastics Summit Global Event (PSGE), Lisbon, October 6, 2025 - President Miriam Olivi will speak on the Resilient Industry and Integrated Management panel. Wips-It is proud to serve as an event ambassador.
  • K 2025, Düsseldorf - the world’s leading trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry. On October 12, Olivi will participate in the Women in Plastics event and will preview Wips-It’s new initiatives during the June press pre-event.

“In these first months, we’ve built a solid foundation,” said President Miriam Olivi. “We’ve fostered relationships, developed tools, and earned trust. We’ve found our balance through determination and awareness, always guided by the values and faces of Women in Plastics Italy. We now look ahead with ambition, ready to broaden participation, amplify our voices, and take further action. We’re proud of the recognition we’ve achieved and remain visionary because we know the path to a more equitable and representative industry is still long.Thanks to our members’ enthusiasm and commitment, we have the energy to move forward together. This is just the best beginning.”
