From September 15 to 19, 2025, the Wittmann Group will present itself at the Drinktec, the world’s leading trade fair for beverage and liquid food technology, with a high-speed machine from its EcoPower Xpress series. The equipment will be shown at the Wittmannbooth No. C6-501 in hall C6.
The EcoPower Xpress is an all-electric high-speed machine whose extremely dynamic drive axes for injection, closing and opening are specially designed for fast movements and maximum control accuracy. With the EcoPower Xpress, injection speeds of up to 650 mm/s and injection pressures of up to 2500 bar are within reach. These values are made possible by all-electric plasticizing units combined with a fast-responding encapsulated injection aggregate. This is why the EcoPower Xpress is predestined for manufacturing items such as caps and closures. For the production of standardized closing caps, maximal mold speeds together with short strokes and optimal dosing performance must be achieved. The EcoPower Xpress fulfils all of these requirements with a reliable and safe production process over many years, and with cycle times far below 2.5 seconds. Moreover, the energy consumption rates are kept extremely low by the machine’s efficient servo-electric drive system.
At the Drinktec, an EcoPower Xpress 160/1100+ will demonstrate the production of screw caps for drink bottles made of HDPE from TotalEnergies OneTech Belgium, using a 32-cavity mold supplied by HTW, Austria, with a diameter of 29/25 mm and a weight of 1.35 g. The machine comes with a Wittmann material loader and a Wittmann mold space moisturizer.
Following demolding, the finished screw caps fall down onto a conveyor belt positioned below the machine’s mold space. The parts are then conveyed to an end-of-line automation system supplied by IMDvista. Inside this system, the caps pass through the stations of cooling, orientation and separation, and finally inline quality inspection. Any faulty parts detected are automatically sorted out before the good parts reach the packaging station. The total cycle time for making these 32 screw caps is no more than 2.5 seconds.
