Borealis invests in a new…

Borealis underscores its sustainability agenda with a strategic investment decision of over EUR 100 million in its production location in Burghausen, Germany. The new production line to be built there will triple the capacity to supply an innovative recyclable High Melt Strength polypropylene (HMS PP) foam material, called Daploy. The start-up of this new line is planned for the second half of 2026.

Borealis Innovation Center in Linz, Austria, spearheaded the development of this breakthrough innovation: Daploy is a foam-based material that combines lightweight and mechanical strength with a mono-material structure. This enables design-for-recycling and a reduction of waste and carbon emissions. With these properties, this PP foam material is an ideal solution to enhance circularity in the automotive, advanced consumer goods and construction sector. The expansion project builds on Borealis’ We4Customers strategy and leverages the company’s strengths in specialty polypropylene. This strategic investment proves Borealis’ long-term commitment to sustainable innovation and its continuous investment in cutting-edge R&D and production infrastructure across Europe.

"As an innovation and sustainability leader with over 12.000 patents, we are proud to expand our European asset footprint with such exciting production capabilities. Guided by our We4Customers strategy, we are providing our partners with the materials they need to design the next generation of high-performance recyclable products," comments Borealis CEO Stefan Doboczky.
