Alujain Corporation and Beaulieu International Group have announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding for a planned strategic joint venture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The proposed company will develop local production of synthetic fibres and non-wovens, aligning with the national industrial development strategy. The partnership, which is still subject to approval by the competent authorities, combines Alujain Corporation's regional manufacturing platform based on advanced polymers with Beaulieu's global expertise in synthetic fibres and non-woven materials.
The planned joint venture will focus on expanding and further developing Alujain Corporation's existing GeonatPet operations in Yanbu. The project aims to strengthen the local value chain by increasing the scope of polymer processing on site and broadening the range of advanced fibre products for infrastructure, construction and environmental applications. According to the partners, implementation of the project is expected to increase the share of local production in meeting demand for advanced geosynthetic materials and to support the development of exports from Saudi Arabia to international markets.
Expansion of GeonatPet operations in Yanbu
The increase in production capacity in Yanbu is to be based on the use of Alujain Corporation's existing infrastructure and polymer base, combined with Beaulieu's technologies and know-how in synthetic fibres and non-wovens. The objective is to enhance operational efficiency, improve supply reliability and create a more diversified product portfolio for customers in the region and worldwide. According to the partners, combining world-class production assets with specialised operating teams is expected to enable the development of a competitive manufacturing base for fibre products made from plastics.
Jean-Baptiste De Ruyck, CEO of Beaulieu, emphasised the long-term nature of the company's planned engagement in the region. As he stated: "This strategic investment reflects Beaulieu's long-term commitment to expanding and strengthening our core capabilities while developing a truly global manufacturing platform. Through this joint venture with Alujain Corporation, we are pleased to bring our advanced technologies, operational expertise, and global market experience in synthetic fibres to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. By combining world-class manufacturing assets, best-in-class machinery, and highly skilled teams, we aim to deliver superior efficiency, enhanced reliability, and long-term value for our customers across the globe."
The expanded global operational footprint in fibres created through the joint venture is also intended to strengthen supply chain resilience and increase delivery reliability for customers across different markets. A higher degree of localisation in processing and geographical diversification of production capacity are seen as important elements of risk management in supply chains for plastic products.
Importance for Alujain's downstream growth strategy
For Alujain Corporation, the planned partnership is linked to the implementation of its downstream growth strategy, which covers polymer processing into higher value-added products. Khalid Al Dawood, CEO of Alujain, pointed out that the project is particularly important for the geosynthetics segment and infrastructure applications. In his view: "This partnership represents a significant milestone in Alujain Corporation's downstream growth strategy and our ambition to provide advanced geosynthetics solutions for major infrastructure projects. In collaboration with Beaulieu, we will accelerate the localization of advanced materials that are critical to infrastructure, construction, and environmental applications, while supporting the Kingdom to deliver its Vision 2030 ambitions and expanding the Kingdom's export capabilities to global markets."
The announced joint venture is therefore expected to support economic diversification by increasing the role of plastics processing and expanding the segment of advanced technical materials. At the same time, it fits into national programmes aimed at increasing local industrial participation, developing technological capabilities and creating jobs in the modern materials segment.
Industrial localisation and technology transfer
The planned partnership reflects the shared commitment of Alujain Corporation and Beaulieu to support industrial localisation, technology transfer and the development of Saudi Arabia's position as a regional and global hub for synthetic fibre and non-woven production. The cooperation is to cover investment in machinery and infrastructure as well as the implementation of know-how in manufacturing processes, quality management and supply logistics.
Closer integration of the local raw material and polymer base with advanced fibre processing has the potential to increase the competitiveness of the product offering and shorten supply chains for end users. In the long term, this may support further investments in the geosynthetics segment, solutions for construction and various industrial applications in which synthetic fibres and non-wovens play a key role.
