Trelleborg will present its portfolio of sealing solutions for food and beverage processing at drinktec 2025, from September 15 to 19, in hall B5 at booth 552. The exhibit centers on the FoodPro family of high-performance materials developed for equipment manufacturers that require consistent global compliance and durability in contact with food. The range spans standard elastomers, including ethylene propylene diene monomer, nitrile butadiene rubber and fluoroelastomers, as well as engineered plastics such as Turcon polytetrafluoroethylene, and Zurcon polyethylene and polyether ether ketone. According to the company, the materials are designed to support hygienic design, withstand aggressive cleaning and sterilization, and help reduce downtime. Adam Li, global segment director processing industries, says: “What makes our high-performance FoodPro materials unique is their versatility. Manufacturers of processing equipment don’t need to specify sealing materials for each application based on geographic usage, process media and cleaning procedures. This saves a lot of time, reduces complexity and simplifies manufacturing processes.”
Portfolio scope and regulatory compliance
The FoodPro range is developed to address critical food-contact sealing challenges faced by processing equipment manufacturers. Trelleborg states that the reliability and longevity of these materials help minimize planned and unplanned downtime, reducing lifetime sealing costs. Visitors to the stand will see a new generation of FoodPro EPDMs that meet critical global regulations for food-contact materials and are designed for use with almost all foods and beverages.
Globally compliant food-grade materials are positioned to help equipment makers reduce their supplier base, which can lower the complexity and cost of handling parts across regions. According to the company, this approach can also offer greater protection against liabilities and save time for manufacturers.
Material properties and application areas
FoodPro materials are designed for hygienic performance, with surfaces intended to avoid scratches or cracks where germs could accumulate. They are specified to remain robust under regular harsh cleaning and sterilization regimes applied to food-contact components.
Within the portfolio, FoodPro E75F2 is presented as an all-round EPDM for both static and dynamic applications. It is intended for universal use across processing environments, including separators, decanters, valves, pipe couplings and filling systems. For applications subject to high pressure, FoodPro E85F2 is indicated as the preferred option, offering similar characteristics to E75F2 with higher hardness for improved extrusion resistance.
Engineering support, components and testing
Trelleborg will also highlight customized engineered polymer solutions tailored to application requirements, including liquid silicone rubber components, multicomponent parts and rubber-to-metal parts. The company’s portfolio of microparts includes precision-engineered LSR and elastomer components, rotary seals and pendulum seals, with customized part handling for hygienic designs. These solutions are described as meeting major regulatory compliance requirements.
The company collaborates with customers early in equipment development, combining design expertise with finite element analysis to define sealing solutions for hygienic applications. In-house testing facilities support application validation, including compatibility with a wide range of commercial cleaning agents and sterilization processes, typically involving overheated steam up to 150 °C/302 °F.
