Südpack presents CarbonLite mono-material pouches at Fachpack

Südpack presents CarbonLite…

At Fachpack 2025, Südpack and Sn Maschinenbau plan a live demonstration at Sn booth, no. 1-317, showing the production of mono-PE stand-up pouches with an integrated PE zipper on a standard horizontal pouch packaging line. The run will feature Südpack’s new CarbonLite film family, developed as recyclable mono-materials that do not require aluminum or metallization. The setup is intended to illustrate that mono-material structures for snack packaging can be processed efficiently while meeting typical shelf-life and handling requirements.

CarbonLite combines and further develops the tubular pouch films from the company’s Pure-Line under a single brand. The range includes PE- and PP-based mono-materials that can be configured with oxygen and water vapor barriers, UV protection and anti-fog features. According to the company, these options are designed for packaging a broad set of snack categories such as nut mixes, grated cheese, salami sticks and pet treats, with a focus on maintaining product quality through the end of shelf life.

The films are positioned to address processing challenges typical of mono-material laminates. As demonstrated at Fachpack, the material runs on a standard pouch machine with consistent output and process reliability. Its high thermal resistance enables secure sealing, including for opening aids and reclose systems, supporting functional features expected in stand-up pouches.

Packaging machine setup

The stand-up pouches are produced on an Fme 50 horizontal pouch packaging machine (HFFS) from Sn Maschinenbau, part of the manufacturer’s Economic Series. The model is suitable for nearly all dry food applications. It is described as easy to operate and enables rapid, largely tool-free format changes in under 15 minutes. The compact design contributes to a small footprint on the production floor.
