PolyOne enables automakers to improve production

PolyOne enables automakers… PolyOne Corporation, a premier global provider of specialized polymer materials, services and solutions launched targeted solutions for the automotive industry.

With an expanding portfolio of high-performance, sustainable solutions, PolyOne enables automakers to improve production efficiencies while positioning their products to meet the growing expectations of today’s consumer for eco-conscious alternatives. PolyOne will feature solutions that help customers gain a competitive advantage by addressing the latest trends, from weight reduction for improved fuel efficiency to increased use of renewably sourced raw materials.

Marcel Dartée, global marketing director for biopolymers, said, “Responding to heightened demand within the automotive industry for renewable solutions, PolyOne has developed reSound bio-based polymer formulations with up to 50 percent plant-based content. These durable biopolymers can replace standard ABS and PC-based products in interior trim applications, offering our customers an eco-conscious option that allows them to improve the sustainability of their vehicles while retaining the performance of traditional materials.”

In addition to reSound, PolyOne will feature slush-molded Geon PVC powder compounds, which enable OEMs and interior automotive suppliers to deliver a soft, premium door panel with the look of leather. Able to reproduce fine details such as stitching and graining, this technology helps to achieve a luxury look and feel for SUVs and sedans without the cost of leather.

PolyOne will also highlight OnColor Smartbatch technology for automotive applications. These enhanced color and additive masterbatches, which can be custom-formulated, deliver brilliant color dynamics, ease of processing, and unmatched UV stabilization for superior performance.
