Envalior to showcase materials for EV and AI at Smart Plastics 2026

Envalior to showcase materials…

Envalior, a global supplier of sustainable and high-performance engineering materials, is presenting its portfolio for the automotive and electrical and electronics sectors at Smart Plastics 2026, which has opened at the Alfa Romeo Historical Museum in Milan. This is the 13th edition of the specialized event dedicated to high-performance polymers used, among other things, for metal replacement and weight reduction, attracting suppliers and manufacturers from across Europe. At booth 43, the company is showing solutions supporting the development of AI data centers and e-mobility. Envalior representatives state that the company uses end-to-end R&D capabilities to help customers shorten time to market, reduce risk, costs and emissions, and adapt to changes related to the expansion of e-mobility, smarter electronics and more sustainable, cost-efficient manufacturing.

Fabio Passeri, Business Development Manager at Envalior Italy, said: "Evolving market and regulatory demands are placing increasing pressure on manufacturers to develop components that are more resilient, robust, recyclable, resistant to heat and electrical failure, and compact, while at the same time keeping cost pressure under control. This is clearly increasing the need for smarter material selection and deeper co-development partnerships. At Envalior, we work side by side with customers at every stage of design and manufacturing, combining global R&D expertise with local market knowledge to help them find the right solution more efficiently."

Solutions presented at the booth

According to the company, many of the displayed applications were developed in close cooperation with customers. Envalior states that it combines global R&D resources, application support tailored to specific uses, and localized compounding services to deliver materials that meet demanding specifications in terms of performance, safety and sustainability.

  • EV steering motor insulation, developed for a major automotive OEM and manufactured from Envalior’s Stanyl PA46 material. The solution is intended to provide high heat resistance, class H thermal insulation, good flow properties and stator rigidity exceeding requirements, while also enabling a more compact design.
  • Cooling fan for AI servers, made from Xytron PPS. The material is said to offer very good dimensional stability, stiffness and creep resistance, as well as high thermal resistance with a maximum service temperature of up to 150°C. Among the processing benefits, the company also points to a low tendency to form flash, which is intended to facilitate injection molding.
  • Bearing cage for high-speed EV drives, made from Stanyl PA46. The material was developed for the higher torque, faster rotational speeds and elevated operating temperatures of electric motors. According to the company, the solution provides very high stiffness, fatigue resistance and weld line strength, reducing part deformation and improving cost efficiency.
  • High-voltage connectors for fast EV charging, which can be produced from a range of material grades adapted to customer requirements, including Akulon (PA66), Durethan (PA6) and Pocan BFN4232ZHR S1. The latter is a flame-retardant PBT grade free from halogens and PFAS which, according to the manufacturer, combines the dimensional stability and electrical insulation properties of PBT with hydrolysis resistance, creep resistance and elongation at break comparable to PA6 and PA66, which is intended to increase design freedom in 800 V and higher charging systems.

Presentation during the event

During the fair, Martin Burg, Advanced Development Expert at Envalior, is scheduled to present the latest solutions in ultra-thin e-motor insulation. The presentation is to cover solutions enabling significantly thinner designs than conventional materials. The session is scheduled for the main stage at 15:00 CEST on Thursday, 7 May.

The company also states that detailed information on its materials is available through the MaterialAdvisor digital tool, intended to support customers in finding, selecting and evaluating materials.
