ELIX Polymers, a globally operating thermoplastics producer, has presented its new sustainability strategy for 2025–2030. The document is a roadmap supporting the transition towards a circular and low carbon economy. The strategy assumes full integration of environmental, social and governance aspects into the company’s operations, its value chain and its business model. The new approach has been linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and is intended to strengthen the company’s activities in decarbonisation and product and process circularity.
The 2025–2030 strategy includes quantitative targets and time phased measures, covering the short, medium and long term. ELIX Polymers stresses that the document continues the previous action plan for 2020–2025, under which projects were implemented to reduce resource consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The new strategy also highlights the importance of cooperation with partners in the supply chain, management based on responsibility principles and systematic reporting of results in the field of sustainability.
Main objectives of the 2025–2030 sustainability strategy
In the published plan, ELIX Polymers has defined a set of key objectives related to products, emissions and social impact. By 2030, 25% of the company’s product portfolio is to consist of solutions based on circular concepts and bio based raw materials. This means further development of an assortment of products designed to enable closed material loops and the use of alternative raw material sources.
In the climate area, the company has committed to reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 63% by 2030, in line with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) requirements, with the perspective of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. These targets cover both direct emissions from the company’s own installations and indirect emissions from purchased energy use.
Further elements of the strategy concern human capital management and socio environmental impact. ELIX Polymers points to the need to strengthen employees’ sense of belonging and well being, as well as to strive to exert a positive influence on the social, environmental and economic surroundings in which the organisation operates.
Implementation of the 2020–2025 plan’s objectives
The introduction of the new strategy was preceded by a summary of the activities carried out under the 2020–2025 plan. The company reports that by 2025 it had achieved a 56% reduction in the organisation’s greenhouse gas emissions compared with the 2020 baseline. In parallel, water consumption was reduced by 20% compared with the base year 2020.
ELIX Polymers has also been certified under the Operation Clean Sweep programme, which is related to limiting plastic pellet losses to the environment at all stages of the value chain. The company declares that it has achieved zero pellet loss under this programme. Another element is the assessment of key suppliers using ESG criteria, which currently covers 70% of them.
In terms of the product portfolio, the company is developing a range of solutions under the E-LOOP brand, dedicated to circular innovations and sustainable solutions. According to the data provided, 30% of the E-LOOP product catalogue is already available on the market. In addition, ELIX Polymers has participated in 10 social projects, which complement its environmental and business activities.

Corporate governance and cooperation in the value chain
The sustainability strategy for 2025–2030 envisages the integration of sustainability aspects into the management of the entire organisation. This includes the development of strategic partnerships aimed at implementing circular business models and low emission solutions, as well as promoting innovation that responds to environmental and social challenges. The company emphasises the importance of rigorous corporate governance as the basis for achieving the set objectives.
The new action plan contains specific initiatives scheduled in the short, medium and long term. Monitoring, reporting and communication systems have also been planned to ensure transparency of information on progress. According to the company, these tools are intended to support the assessment of the fulfilment of commitments towards stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, employees and local communities.
Commenting on the adoption of the new strategy, David Castañeda, CEO of ELIX Polymers, said: "The new strategy is the result of a collaborative effort and reflects our ambition for responsible leadership and for creating shared value for the entire value chain. We want to be an active part of the sustainable transformation of the sector, and this roadmap sets our direction of action."
Reporting and transparency of environmental activities
ELIX Polymers highlights the importance of transparency and continuous improvement of processes related to sustainability. Since 2016, the company has prepared and published annual sustainability reports in accordance with Global Reporting Initiative standards. These documents are intended to transparently reflect progress, challenges and achievements over the years.
The company indicates that consistent reporting is part of its approach to corporate responsibility and a tool for identifying areas requiring further improvement. ELIX Polymers’ annual sustainability reports are available online to interested parties, including business partners and other participants in the plastics value chain.
