eFK EvoSmart texturing machine: higher efficiency and lower costs

eFK EvoSmart texturing machine:…

Barmag's eFK EvoSmart texturing machine, presented for the first time at ITMA Asia + CITME 2025, has achieved significant market success. The solution is aimed at yarn manufacturers that focus on energy-efficient and economical production. According to the manufacturer, a total of 84 machines has been sold so far, including in China, Turkey and Indonesia, which indicates growing interest in technologies designed to reduce energy consumption and maintenance requirements in texturing processes.

According to Barmag, the key element of the new design is the combination of EvoHeater heating technology and Smart Godets drive controlled by a single converter. This configuration is intended to significantly reduce the energy intensity of the process while maintaining high and consistent yarn quality. The solution is targeted at plants processing yarns for weaving, knitting and subsequent finishing, where stable process parameters translate into the efficiency of the entire processing chain.

Energy efficiency and yarn quality as priorities

Dr Wolfgang Ernst, Head of Sales at Barmag, emphasizes that energy efficiency and final product quality are essential in yarn production. The solutions used in eFK EvoSmart are intended to simultaneously reduce operating costs and ensure stable parameters in the texturing process. In this approach, both the heating system and precise yarn guidance on the driven rolls play a key role.

The manufacturer states that the combination of EvoHeater and Smart Godets technology enables potential energy savings of 25% per kilogram of yarn. This is the result of optimizing the operating point of individual elements of the texturing line and adapting the drive parameters to actual process conditions. As a consequence, it is possible to reduce specific energy consumption while maintaining the required quality and output.

EvoHeater design and extended service intervals

The EvoHeater technology used in eFK EvoSmart has been designed to simplify maintenance activities related to the heating system. According to Barmag, the new design reduces the time required for heater cleaning and facilitates handling while maintaining a closed heater assembly. This results in extended maintenance intervals.

The manufacturer declares that, compared to previous solutions, maintenance work can be reduced by up to 50%. Higher line availability over the year leads to increased productivity of the texturing installation. This has a direct impact on the unit production cost of yarn, especially in plants operating in continuous mode, where service downtimes significantly affect the operating balance.

The new EvoHeater technology in the eFK EvoSmart machine with its patented heater design is intended to provide high yarn quality with a significant reduction in energy consumption, which translates into operating costs.

Smart Godets and energy consumption optimization

The second key element of eFK EvoSmart is the Smart Godets driven rolls controlled by a single converter. The application of such a system is intended to optimize the operating point of each roll individually, which in turn improves the energy balance of the entire line. Precise control of speed and torque helps reduce energy losses and better match parameters to the requirements of a given yarn.

According to Barmag, the integration of Smart Godets with the EvoHeater heating system is a solution that in practice makes it possible to achieve the stated energy savings of up to 25% per kilogram of yarn. At the same time, this is intended to support stable process conditions, which is important for the quality and uniformity of textured yarn and thus for subsequent processing stages.

Impact on operating costs and competitiveness

According to Dr Wolfgang Ernst, eFK EvoSmart enables yarn producers to sustainably reduce operating costs while maintaining high product quality. This is achieved through a combination of lower energy consumption and reduced maintenance requirements. Lower demand for servicing, longer intervals between overhauls and shorter downtimes translate into higher availability of the installation and better utilization of production capacity.

The eFK EvoSmart texturing machine is designed for use in various downstream applications such as weaving, knitting and finishing processes. Stable yarn quality and repeatability of parameters achieved on the texturing line are intended to support consistent operation of subsequent textile production stages. From the perspective of spinning plant operators, reduced process energy demand and shorter time spent on maintenance activities can be a factor improving competitiveness in cost-sensitive markets.

Dr Wolfgang Ernst summarizes the role of the new solution as follows: "With the eFK EvoSmart, we offer our customers a solution that sustainably reduces their operating costs while meeting future efficiency requirements with consistently high yarn quality."
