Südpack Medica launches MedHub service for standard pouches

Südpack Medica launches MedHub…

Südpack Medica has launched the new MedHub service for customers in the healthcare sector. Within this solution, customers can immediately order high-quality, pre-made pouches in standard sizes and defined batch quantities via telephone, email or online. The pouches are manufactured in ISO-certified cleanrooms, kept permanently in stock and meet the quality requirements applicable in the medical sector. The service is designed with short delivery times in mind, both for specified delivery dates and in just-in-time mode, to facilitate fast and straightforward supply of standard packaging for medical and pharmaceutical applications.

MedHub addresses the needs of medical facilities and suppliers that require standard pouches at short notice and with minimal organizational effort. The company reports that at its extended facility in Coulmer, France, operating at ISO 7 cleanroom class, processes have been optimized to enable efficient order handling and rapid dispatch of stock products. The service covers both standard finished items and support in ensuring regulatory compliance by providing the relevant certificates.

Applications of pouches in the pharmaceutical value chain

The pre-made pouches offered within MedHub can be used at various stages of the value chain in the pharmaceutical industry. They are used, among others, for packaging components such as stoppers, filters or connectors. The pouches also serve as simple transfer packaging for glass items such as vials, ampoules or syringes, which are key for administering liquid parenteral preparations such as infusions and must remain sterile until filling.

The use of standard, pre-made pouches is intended to allow users to simplify packaging and logistics processes while maintaining the required hygienic and barrier properties. By keeping permanent stock levels, it is possible to replenish supplies relatively quickly without the need for long lead times for the serial production of dedicated formats.

Portfolio: film and Tyvek pouches and PA/PE pouches

The current MedHub portfolio focuses primarily on Tyvek roll stock and three-side seal pouches made from a combination of film and Tyvek. These solutions are suitable for sterilization and are puncture resistant and highly resistant to moisture. The pouches provide barrier properties that are important for product protection and allow fast and clean opening, which, according to the manufacturer, results from the favorable peel characteristics of the material even in high-pressure working environments.

For heavier products, Südpack additionally offers three-side seal pouches made of PA/PE film in various sizes. The design of these packages is intended to provide a dependable microbial barrier and also to allow their use in gamma sterilization processes. The pouches are produced under cleanroom conditions, which is important for maintaining the required hygiene standards in medical and pharmaceutical applications.

The pouches offered within MedHub are kept permanently in stock and can be ordered online at any time. Südpack Medica provides customers with the complete set of required certificates, which is intended to support quality assurance, safety and regulatory compliance on the user side. Additional information on the MedHub service can be found on the Südpack website.

Target group and customization options

The new service is aimed at customers who need a continuous supply of standard packaging products for their daily packaging processes and who at the same time value a simple ordering procedure and short delivery times. The stock-based supply model is intended to reduce lead times and logistical effort for customers.

In parallel, Südpack Medica continues to offer fully customized pouch solutions. In this area, customers can freely choose formats, material combinations and opening systems, with both printed and unprinted versions available. In this way, standard MedHub products can complement individual packaging designs used where it is necessary to adapt parameters to the specific requirements of a product or process.
