Sidel’s EvoBLOW Laser after drinktec trade fair

Sidel’s EvoBLOW Laser after…

After the drinktec trade fair, Sidel’s management reviews the market introduction of the EvoBLOW Laser solution, described as an industry-ready and rigorously tested technology. According to the company, this system is expected to soon revolutionise blow‑moulding processes compared with conventional halogen technologies. President and CEO Pietro Cassani, who has been heading Sidel for over a year, presents his perspective on the importance of this innovation, as well as the role of organisational culture and cooperation with customers in the further development of the portfolio. This topic is complemented by comments from Vice President Innovation Mattia Cenci, who points to the key parameters of the technology and how they translate into production line performance.

Three key components of the new technology

Pietro Cassani emphasises that the market launch of the EvoBLOW Laser solution has highlighted three fundamental elements: innovation, partnership‑based cooperation with customers and team commitment. As he explains, these three components are intended to work in harmony and form the basis for building subsequent stages of blow‑moulding technology development.

According to Cassani, EvoBLOW Laser is a solution that is already operating under industrial conditions and has been rigorously tested. The company associates it with expectations of a fundamental change in blow‑moulding processes, including improved performance compared with solutions based on conventional halogen technology. In this sense, the innovation is both technological and organisational, as it requires close cooperation with end users and tailoring solutions to their operational needs.

Efficiency, lightweighting and simplicity in blow‑moulding processes

The EvoBLOW Laser system has been described as a solution that provides energy savings thanks to lower electricity consumption compared with traditional halogen technology and lower air pressure under industrial conditions. This approach is intended to reduce operating costs associated with running blow‑moulding installations.

The communication also points to the potential for weight reduction, increased efficiency and greater flexibility of the production line. This is complemented by declared savings in maintenance and the simplicity of system operation. This set of parameters is intended to make EvoBLOW Laser perceived as a breakthrough solution from the perspective of line operators and production planners.

Vice President Innovation Mattia Cenci adds that line efficiency, energy savings, material optimisation, quality, flexibility, total cost of ownership (TCO) and ease of use are the values that drive innovation across Sidel. This applies not only to the beverages segment, but also to food products, home care and personal care. Cenci notes that these values are reflected both in the laser technology and in the entire NeXt line, described as a complete line designed to deliver the best possible performance with minimal resource consumption.

Innovation culture and learning from customers

Referring to his first months and year in the position of company president, Pietro Cassani points to the shared and clearly visible passion in Sidel plants for developing technology and solving customers’ problems. He describes this as an element of the company’s lasting organisational culture, which is based on innovation and learning from end users.

Cassani notes that this culture is still alive throughout Sidel’s history and remains a motivating factor in day‑to‑day operations. From the perspective of the packaging and blow‑moulding market, this means a focus on continuous improvement of solutions using feedback from installed equipment in various production plants.

Continuing the tradition of lightweight packaging

Summing up the significance of EvoBLOW Laser for the company’s strategy, Cassani refers to the French expansion of the name Sidel as “Société Industrielle Des Emballages Légers”, translated as “Industrial Company for Lightweight Packaging”. In his view, the new solution not only fits into the company’s pioneering tradition in the field of lightweight packaging, but is also a response to current market pressures.

As Cassani points out, manufacturers are currently facing the need to reduce costs while simultaneously increasing the sustainability and efficiency of processes. In this context, EvoBLOW Laser is intended to serve as a tool enabling the optimisation of energy and resource consumption while maintaining or improving key production parameters. The company stresses that the development of this technology is only the beginning of further activities in the area of laser blow‑moulding solutions and the expansion of the NeXt line.

The Sidel Group designs, manufactures, assembles, supplies and sells complete packaging lines for liquid foods packaged.
