SACMI acquires majority stake in Groupe Emballage Technologies

SACMI acquires majority stake…

SACMI has acquired a majority stake in the French Groupe Emballage Technologies, which includes Etpack, Sermatec and Pactisoud. The transaction was finalized on 19 December 2025, with Sacmi taking a 65% share. The deal was completed through SACMI Packaging & Chocolate SpA, the SACMI Group business unit operating in the food packaging segment. The aim is to strengthen and broaden the offer in food packaging machinery and solutions, as well as to increase the company’s presence on the French market and in other international markets.

SACMI has been cooperating with Etpack since 2019 through its Polish subsidiary. The current transaction, described as an operation of considerable commercial and industrial value, is based on long-term relations between the two groups and their shared strategic vision. As a result of the acquisition, SACMI Packaging & Chocolate expands and completes its range of secondary packaging solutions by integrating specialized technologies, which makes it possible to reach additional industries and market segments. The synergy also covers the construction and assembly of flowpack lines and low- and medium-speed vertical packaging machines, designed by Sacmi and assembled at Sermatec, which is intended to increase flexibility in responding to changes in demand and customer expectations.

Strengthening the position on the French market

Groupe Emballage Technologies is a well-known supplier on the French market, and Sacmi expects the acquisition to be a major growth driver in this country. The operation is part of a strategy to build a strong local presence based on a network of production plants and sales units. At the same time, it aligns with the broader business strategy of SACMI Packaging & Chocolate, which is already active on the markets of Poland, the DACH countries and the United States.

SACMI President Paolo Mongardi highlights the importance of this transaction for the further development of the group’s food packaging segment.

"Strengthening our operations in the food packaging sector is a key goal for SACMI," says Paolo Mongardi. "The skills and established position of Groupe Emballage Technologies on the French market will support our development in this market, which is extremely important for us. The complementary nature of our primary and secondary packaging solutions completes Sacmi’s technological proposal, opening up new market opportunities with the full involvement of our Global Network."

Technological synergy and managerial autonomy

By integrating Groupe Emballage Technologies into the structure of SACMI Packaging & Chocolate, it becomes possible to extend the solution portfolio with specific secondary packaging technologies, enabling the company to serve new application areas and market segments. Closer cooperation also applies to the production and assembly of flowpack machines and low- and medium-speed vertical packaging machines, designed by SACMI and assembled at Sermatec. This combination is intended to enhance the ability to respond to market changes and to tailor packaging line configurations to diverse requirements of customers in the food sector.

At the same time, it was emphasized that Groupe Emballage Technologies will retain its managerial autonomy. This is a key element of the transaction structure, related to the group’s performance and development on the French market in recent years.

"Groupe Emballage Technologies will retain its managerial autonomy, which is crucial in light of the very good results achieved in recent years," comments Pierrick Doux, who has headed the group since 2007. "Closer teamwork will facilitate the pursuit of shared strategic goals and help strengthen growth both in France and abroad."

Next steps and presence at CFIA

The next stage in strengthening the market presence after the acquisition will be participation in industry events. The first official market appearance following the completion of the transaction will be the CFIA trade fair in Rennes, scheduled for March 2026. This event is an important platform for presenting solutions in food processing and packaging on the French market, as well as a meeting place for manufacturers and technology suppliers.

Participation in CFIA is expected to provide an opportunity to present the combined offer of SACMI Packaging & Chocolate and Groupe Emballage Technologies to customers from France and other countries, as well as to showcase the effects of technological synergies in the areas of primary and secondary packaging.
