Jean-Marc Galvez elected new…

Jean-Marc Galvez has been elected president of European Plastics Converters for the 2026-2028 term. The decision was made during the EuPC 2026 General Assembly held on 3 June 2026. He will take over from Benoit Hennaut, who served as president of the organisation for the past four years. The change at the helm of the association comes at a time of significant challenges for the European plastics converting sector, including industrial competitiveness, innovation development and the acceleration of the transition towards a circular economy. The new president brings to the organisation many years of management experience gained in international companies operating in packaging, sales, operations, and research and development.

Jean-Marc Galvez currently serves as chief operating officer at Amcor, where he is responsible for the company’s global rigid packaging business. He has more than 35 years of international leadership experience in general management, sales, operations and research and development, in both private and public companies.

Experience in packaging and chemicals

During his career, Galvez held a series of senior executive roles at Berry Global. Most recently, he was president of the Consumer Packaging International division, a position he held for nearly six years. Earlier, he served as president of Berry's Consumer Packaging Division North America and president of HH&S EMEIA.

Before joining Berry Global, he was president for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India at Avintiv, a Blackstone company, based in Barcelona. Earlier in his career, he held general management, sales, operations, and research and development leadership roles at Dow, Merquinsa, a Lubrizol company, Monsanto, and Elf Atochem in Europe.

As highlighted in the EuPC announcement, Galvez has lived and worked in seven countries, which is said to provide him with a broad international perspective and experience in driving business transformation and supporting sustainable, profitable growth. The organisation also points to his commitment to promoting diversity and circular solutions, in line with the approach summarised by the phrase "We can do well by doing good."

Statements after the election

After the election, Jean-Marc Galvez said: "I am honoured to serve as president of EuPC at such an important moment for our industry. Plastics converters play a critical role in advancing innovation, competitiveness and circularity, both globally and across Europe. I look forward to working closely with our members and partners to help shape a more sustainable, competitive and resilient future for the plastics value chain."

The outgoing president Benoit Hennaut also commented on the transition: "I am pleased to hand over the presidency of EuPC to Jean-Marc Galvez, who will ensure that the association continues to work for the interests of all plastics converters in Europe during a challenging period for the industry."
