Hiroyuki uses Sikora's inspection…

Hiroyuki Industries (M) Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Japan’s Hiroyuki Co., Ltd., has positioned itself as a regional supplier of food-grade recycled PET resin and packaging materials. Based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, the company manufactures rPET resin for bottle-to-bottle applications and supplies strapping bands, stretch films and tying twines for general packaging. To maintain consistent outgoing quality, Hiroyuki uses Sikora’s Purity Concept V optical inspection system in its quality control laboratory. The bench-top unit analyses rPET pellet samples prior to shipment, automatically identifying visual defects such as black specks and discolorations. It also detects other contaminants down to 50 micrometers. By replacing manual inspection, the system increases accuracy and efficiency while providing objective, documented assessments for each batch.

Inspection scope and data traceability

Integrated into Hiroyuki’s quality control workflow, the Purity Concept V inspects representative pellet samples and flags visible contaminants and surface non-uniformities. According to the company, earlier detection of defects enables immediate corrective actions and reduces the incidence of non-conforming batches. Each inspection is recorded and archived to create a data trail that supports traceability, customer assurance and regulatory audits. This data includes the number of defects, providing input for continuous process optimization.

“With the Purity Concept V, we have significantly improved our ability to detect visual contaminants of the pellets. This not only enhances product quality but also boosts confidence in our material among our customers,” says Chan Shuang, QA Assistant Manager at Hiroyuki.

Standards compliance and future outlook

Hiroyuki considers optical inspection a key element in meeting international requirements, including those of the EU, FDA and EFSA. The use of the Purity Concept V supports the company’s aim to deliver safe, high-performance recycled materials while refining internal quality systems. Looking ahead, Hiroyuki plans to develop into a comprehensive hub for rPET resin, preforms and bottle production within its region. Sikora’s inspection technology is identified by the company as a partner in this development path.
