Packaging manufacturer Coveris was recognised with four wins at the UK Packaging Awards 2025, including the Packaging Company of the Year title. The event, marking its 20th anniversary, took place in London on Wednesday 8 October and highlighted achievements in design, innovation, performance and sustainability. In addition to the headline award, Coveris secured Flexible Plastic Pack of the Year and Best New Concept Award, while Amberley Labels, the Group’s luxury labelling business, took Label of the Year for a premium spirits application.
The Packaging Company of the Year accolade reflected Coveris’ performance across sustainability, innovation, operational execution and culture. Judges commented that “Coveris has demonstrated exceptional performance across every judging dimension - innovation, sustainability, operational investment, and people.”
Coveris’ win in Flexible Plastic Pack of the Year recognised its MonoFlexP PaperFeel pack developed for Lidl’s Butcher’s sausage range, produced by Cranswick. The solution replaces a complex triple laminate with a monomaterial film format that is designed for recyclability. MonoFlexP PaperFeel provides a tactile, paper-like finish while maintaining shelf life and protecting product integrity, supporting strong shelf appeal in chilled meat applications.
The Best New Concept Award went to MonoFlex Thermoform PaperFeel, an innovation in recyclable thermoforming packaging formulated from polyethylene. Developed as a replacement for mixed material laminates, the solution combines the protective performance of plastic with the visual and tactile cues of paper. It is designed to meet the functional demands of protein-based products such as sliced meats, fish, bacon and cheese, and to support waste reduction objectives across the value chain.
Amberley Labels earned Label of the Year for Aureus Vita’s Fibonacci Dry Gin. The digitally printed label features crisp typography and a rich, textured base. It is highly embellished, incorporating foiling, embossing, debossing and UV ink, with craftsmanship and an elevated aesthetic intended to reflect the originality and premium character of the product.
Christian Kolarik, CEO of Coveris, said: "To receive four awards, including Packaging Company of the Year, is a proud achievement and a clear recognition of the progress we’ve made across the Coveris Group. It reflects the strength of our innovation in both paper and plastic packaging, our continued investment in people, sites and technologies, and the positive impact of our No Waste strategy. These awards are a real credit to our teams and how we work in partnership with customers to lead the packaging industry in a more sustainable and responsible way."
In individual recognition, Jo Ormrod, Chief Operating Officer of Coveris’ Paper Business Unit, was highly commended in the Woman of the Year category. Her 25-year career has been defined by a people-first mindset, strong customer focus and a strategic approach that has supported growth and innovation across the business.
