Coveris invests in production capacity in Poland

Coveris invests in production…

Coveris is expanding its production base in Central and Eastern Europe through investments exceeding EUR 1.8 million in two facilities located in Poland. The flexible packaging manufacturer says the new spending is intended to increase production capacity, shorten order lead times and expand the range of packaging functionalities on offer. These measures are aimed at serving customers in the bakery, confectionery, fresh food, pet food, dry goods and retail segments. As Christian Kolarik, CEO of Coveris, emphasised, "Strategic investments in technology are essential to our growth and to supporting our customers. By strengthening our operations in Poland, we are increasing capacity, enhancing flexibility and providing the speed and quality our customers need to compete in rapidly changing markets." According to the company, the investments strengthen Poland's position as an important development hub for Coveris in the region, combining new technologies with scalable production capacity.

One element of the investment programme is the installation of a high-performance Soma Proxima flexographic press. The machine enables wide-web applications to be produced at speeds of up to 400 m/min. Coveris states that implementing this solution increases production capacity by more than 30% annually, while also supporting consistent print quality, higher productivity and shorter lead times, particularly for high-volume orders.

New equipment for packaging production

Another investment includes a Lemo bag-making machine designed to produce standard wicket bags in sizes from 230 to 380 mm. The line processes CPP, LDPE and HDPE films and can reach an output of up to 550 bags per minute. According to Coveris, the additional capacity is important for food, bakery and hygiene product manufacturers, as it translates into shorter lead times and better support during periods of peak demand and rising volumes.

Laser film perforation

The company has also implemented film laser perforation technology in Poland for selected types of flexible packaging, such as stand-up pouches and flat-bottom bags. This technology makes it possible to create precise and clean opening cuts. In Coveris' assessment, the solution improves user convenience and, for food and pet food brands, can also support product presentation on the retail shelf.

The overall investments are intended to support the further development of the company's operations in Central and Eastern Europe. Coveris states that combining advanced production technologies with expanded manufacturing capacity is meant to provide customers with reliable service, high packaging quality and a broader range of functional solutions.
