Ampacet unveils low-halogen and halogen-free Flame retardant masterbatches at K 2025

Ampacet unveils low-halogen…

Ampacet, a global masterbatch leader,  will showcase its innovative flame retardant portfolio at K 2025, addressing evolving regulatory, safety, and supply chain demands in the plastics industry. Key highlights include Halolite 527 and Halofree 533, Ampacet’s latest low-halogen and halogen-free flame retardant masterbatches, engineered for safer polypropylene-based electrical equipment and construction plastics.

With stricter international standards such as EN 50642 and IEC 61249-2-21 limiting halogen and antimony content, Ampacet’s new solutions offer high fire safety while minimizing toxic emissions. Both Halolite 527 and Halofree 533 have achieved UL94 V2 classification and demonstrate a high Glow Wire Flammability Index (GWFI), ensuring reliable fire resistance for building and construction applications.

Designed for use in polypropylene electrical equipment as well as other PP injected or extruded plastics used in Building and Construction, Halolite 527 and Halofree 533 provide versatile solutions for a wide range of applications.

Halolite 527 is also designed for PP electrical conduits widely used in construction for building electrification, in compliance with EN 61386-1 standard. It exists in Dark Grey RAL 7031 and Light Grey RAL 7035 shades.

“Traditional halogen- and antimony-based flame retardants deliver excellent flame protection but generate toxic and corrosive gases when exposed to fire,” said François Thibeau, Strategic Business Manager E&E. “Halolite 527 and Halofree 533 provide safer alternatives without compromising performance, meeting current and future regulatory requirements while protecting people and the environment.”

Ampacet’s solutions are versatile and user-friendly: they are available in natural color, compatible with separate color masterbatches, and can be developed in pre-colored variants on request. Manufacturers facing supply challenges with antimony trioxide-based flame retardants will benefit from Ampacet’s full range of flame retardants tailored to diverse applications.

Visit Ampacet at K 2025, Hall 5, Booth C24, to discover how Halolite 527 and Halofree 533 can enhance safety, regulatory compliance, and sustainability in your products.
