The Moretto Model: product expertise and attention to detail

The Moretto Model: product…

Moretto is a manufacturer of equipment for plastics processing that bases its development model on product expertise, research and strict process control. The company holds 169 international patents and develops solutions designed for the specific requirements of users, using experience, advanced technologies and its own research and production facilities. The integration of key stages of design, manufacturing and service is intended to ensure consistent quality and the ability to handle complex projects for the plastics industry.

In-depth knowledge of polymer processing, built over more than 45 years of activity, combined with human capital, forms the basis of Moretto's approach to designing solutions focused on quality. In the company's model, research and development are closely linked to industrial practice, and the emphasis on design details is intended to translate both into reliability and into further process optimisation for customers. Internal research, simulation and training structures support the development of new systems, including technologies for processing recyclates and solutions in the areas of drying, dosing and tracking material flow in processing plants.

Research, simulation and laboratory facilities

Research and development work aimed at understanding the mathematical and physical phenomena occurring in processing operations plays an important role in Moretto's activities. The company highlights the importance of going beyond simple generalisations and individual experiences, pointing to the use of simulation tools and artificial intelligence as support in analysis and design.

Since 2009, Moretto has been using a mathematical simulator for parallel computing, referred to as the Leonardo simulator. This system is used to support technology development and to optimise design details. On this basis, the company has built an in-house research laboratory equipped with measuring equipment and simulators, where solutions for plastics processing are tested and refined. The aim is to achieve parameters previously regarded as difficult or impossible to obtain under standard production conditions.

The facilities also include a multifunctional showroom that combines the functions of the research and development department, technological testing and training. This space allows development cycles to be shortened and enables trials and demonstrations with the participation of customers, which supports the adaptation of equipment to specific applications and processes.

Vertically integrated production and quality control model

Moretto develops its position as a technology supplier on the basis of a vertically integrated industrial model. The company implements key stages of product development in-house, from prototype design and industrialisation to the critical phases of installation, operator training and after-sales service. This structure is intended to provide direct control over critical components and processes, and thus to ensure consistent oversight of the quality of equipment and services.

An important element of the model is the way the company cooperates with users. Moretto emphasises the role of active listening and technical consultancy aimed at long-term relationships. The combination of technical know-how and vertical integration is intended to enable the handling of highly complex projects that require both functional adaptation and support at the commissioning and operation stages.

The company's organic growth is reflected in the expansion of production capacity. A new production plant with an area of 13,000 m² is to be physically and functionally integrated with the existing facilities, which is intended to optimise production planning and improve the ability to respond to orders from customers in different markets.

Service support using artificial intelligence

In the area of after-sales service, Moretto is implementing a service desk platform supported by artificial intelligence. This solution is intended to support the work of the expert team by streamlining the analysis of service requests and accelerating the preparation of technical responses. The use of AI tools is expected to help interpret complex process phenomena and to propose appropriate service measures.

A key element of the system is the possibility of remote connection to installations, which is intended to enable rapid interventions and support the continuity of production lines at customers' sites. This approach is in line with the growing importance of remote monitoring and diagnostics solutions in plastics processing plants.

International expansion: Moretto de Mexico branch

As part of expanding its global presence, Moretto has opened the Moretto de Mexico branch in Querétaro. The objective of the new unit is to provide a faster and more direct response to the needs of the local market, including in terms of technical support and availability of equipment.

As Renato Moretto, the company's president, points out, the opening of the Mexican branch is seen as a stage in the internationalisation of the enterprise. The statement indicates the intention to strengthen the presence on a market described as dynamic and rich in opportunities, with an emphasis on delivering value to local customers and improving the quality of service support.

Recycling and material reuse

In the context of increasing requirements in the field of sustainability, Moretto focuses on solutions for plastics recycling. The company indicates that recovery, treatment and reintegration of polymers into processing operations make it possible to reduce the consumption of virgin raw materials and to lower CO2 emissions, which is important for the environmental balance of plants.

In Moretto's approach, recycling is understood not only as the reuse of material, but also as process optimisation to maintain the highest possible mechanical and aesthetic properties of recyclate-based plastics. The technologies developed are intended to support users in the stable processing of secondary materials and in running processes described as genuinely sustainable.

In the area of recycling technology, Moretto presents a set of devices configured for efficiency, process control and material quality:

  • Hyper Cut, a low-speed grinder for various types of production waste,
  • MPK, a crystalliser for amorphous materials,
  • DGM Gravix Maxi, a gravimetric batch blender for rPET bottle flakes.

New solutions at Plast 2026 trade fair

Moretto announces the presentation of new solutions at the Plast trade fair in Milan in 2026. The focus will be on technologies related to plastics drying, gravimetric dosing and tracking of material flow in production processes. The company indicates that this development direction is consistent with market trends such as high performance requirements, the growing importance of batch traceability and sustainability criteria.

The planned solutions are presented as an advancement and alternative to traditional systems, with an emphasis on energy efficiency, ease of use and stable operating parameters. In this way, Moretto aims to strengthen its position as a technology partner that combines production capabilities with industry experience and a focus on the requirements of users in the plastics processing sector.
