Südpack showcases sustainable packaging innovations at Fachpack 2025

Südpack showcases sustainable…

Südpack is set to reaffirm its leadership in sustainable packaging at Fachpack 2025, where the company will unveil a comprehensive portfolio of eco-friendly solutions tailored for the food industry. With sustainability as a central pillar of its Strategy 2030, Südpack continues to drive the green transformation of the packaging sector by introducing innovative products and services that support the circular economy and meet the evolving needs of environmentally conscious customers.

Commitment to sustainability and circular economy

As a technology- and innovation-driven company, Südpack actively advances circular economy principles through both mechanical and chemical recycling initiatives. The company’s annual sustainability and progress report, to be released in conjunction with Fachpack, documents significant achievements: a 24% reduction in emissions since 2021, validated CO2 reduction targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and Platinum status in the EcoVadis rating. These milestones underline Südpack’s dedication to measurable, transparent progress in environmental responsibility.

Innovative mono-material packaging: The CarbonLite Family

A highlight of Südpack’s Fachpack 2025 presentation will be the debut of the new CarbonLite® product family. These recyclable mono-materials, based on polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE), are designed for a variety of packaging concepts, such as PE flowpacks for cheese, PP doypacks for snacks, and PP spouted pouches for fruit purées. CarbonLite® materials offer excellent machinability on existing equipment, reliable sealing performance (including for integrated zippers and spouts made from the same mono-material), and adaptable barrier properties for optimal product protection and shelf life. Most importantly, they deliver a significantly reduced carbon footprint compared to conventional multilayer or heavier tray packaging.

Recyclable thermoforming packs and trays

Südpack will also showcase a range of material-efficient, recyclable solutions for the packaging of sausages, cheese, and meat. The portfolio includes thermoformable rigid and flexible films, peelable and multi-peel top webs from the PP and PE Pure-Line, and the innovative Peel PET floatable top web. This unique structure can be separated from an APET bottom web or tray during recycling due to its floating properties, enhancing recyclability and material recovery. All material structures provide excellent sealing—even in contaminated seal areas—and outstanding barrier properties.

Advanced skin film technology for resource efficiency

The latest generation of Südpack’s skin film range sets new standards in performance and sustainability. Utilizing advanced skin technology, these highly transparent films minimize material usage while extending the shelf life of packaged foods. They can be sealed to PP, PE, and PET, and are suitable for a wide range of products, including fillets, bone-in meats, and seafood. The tight wrap ensures product integrity, prevents leakage, and allows for attractive hanging displays at the point of sale.
