On November 23, during the General Meeting of Members of the "Polish Recykling" Association, Simon Dziak-Czekan, who had led the organization since its founding in 2015, resigned from the position of president of the management board. He recommended the current vice-president of the management board, Sławomir Pacek, to fulfil the vacancy Members present at the meeting in Krakow supported the candidacy of the new president.

The outgoing president, Simon Dziak-Czekan, as an honorary member of the Association, will act as an advisor and representative of the Management Board, being responsible, among others, for contact with the media, legislation and presenting the organization's position at trade symposia and conferences.

Sławomir Pacek, who had to date served as a vice-president, has been active in the plastics recycling industry for over two decades, especially in the field of packaging waste recovery.

"The recent period of major changes on the market requires me to focus more on my business activities" explains Simon Dziak-Czekan "I think that the "Polish Recycling" Association has grown to become such a mature organization that it will effectively represent the interests of the industry both with and without my presence on the board".

"Years of joint work, extensive knowledge and experience of the new president guarantee the implementation of the planned development strategy of our organization" assures Simon Dziak-Czekan.

President Sławomir Pacek is adamant that the Association will continue its activities in striving to improve the current situation of the plastics industry "We constantly strive to introduce laws crucial to the development of recycling in Poland, such as, among others, Extended Producer Responsibility" emphas President Pacek "but nothing has changed since October - the Polish recycling industry remains in a difficult situation".

The General Meeting of SPR Members elected Sławomir Pack as president of the management board for a three-year term. Mr. Jerzy Kamiński, the current chairman of the Audit Committee, also became a member of the SPR management board. Mateusz Sówka became the SWP treasurer for the next term. Both gentlemen represent  impressive achievements in the field of innovative recycling methods and many years of experience.

At Thursday's meeting, the Management Board also discussed the state of national and EU legislation regarding PPWR, i.e. the regulation on packaging and packaging waste, as well as the deposit system. An action strategy for the coming years and an opening balance were proposed.
