5th International Modern Packaging conference to take place on 15 September

5th International Modern Packaging…

The Polish Chamber of Packaging has announced the 5th International Modern Packaging Conference, combined with the celebration of Packaging Day 2026. The event will take place on 15 September 2026 at the Warsaw House of Technology NOT in Warsaw and will be held as a nationwide scientific and technical conference. This year's edition has been prepared for packaging users, in particular retail chains, FMCG companies, manufacturing plants, co-packing businesses and entities operating in e-commerce. The organiser indicates that these groups will be most affected by the new packaging regulations, including the PPWR regulation, EU 2025/40, applicable from 12 August 2026, as well as the deposit return system launched on 1 January 2026. The conference is intended to facilitate the exchange of information between companies that design and manufacture packaging and businesses that use it when placing products on the market.

15 September is celebrated as Packaging Day, an industry holiday established by the Polish Chamber of Packaging in 2007. According to the organiser, the purpose of this initiative is to promote knowledge about the role of packaging in the economy, everyday life and the protection of consumer health. The 2026 edition will also be the fifth instalment of the Modern Packaging series, launched in 2019. Previous editions of the conference were held during Warsaw Pack, at the House of Technology NOT on the occasion of the Chamber's 30th anniversary, and at the Poznań International Fair during Taropak.

The President of the Polish Chamber of Packaging, Krzysztof Niczyporuk, emphasises: "We want Packaging Day to become a place for genuine dialogue between those who design and manufacture packaging and those who make decisions about its use every day. The new regulations are changing the rules of the game for the entire value chain, from material to the retail shelf."

Conference programme

The organiser announces that the opening of the conference will include the ceremonial presentation of the Chamber's honorary titles. The distinctions to be awarded are "Meritorious for the Packaging Industry" in the individual category and "Company Meritorious for the Packaging Industry" in the corporate category.

After the opening part, four thematic sessions are planned:

  • Session I, Vision 2030+: the PPWR regulation, the deposit return system, the Green Deal and directions for industry development;
  • Session II, Financing green investments: support programmes for enterprises, risk management and insurance;
  • Session III, Innovations and technologies: packaging safety and barrier properties, food contact materials, the Digital Product Passport, 2D standards and traceability;
  • Session IV, Sustainable packaging development: recycled materials, biopolymers and the circular economy.

Participation and registration

Participant registration is to open in August 2026. The conference is non-commercial in nature and, as the organiser states, the participation fee is intended solely to cover the organisational costs of the event. The fee will include access to all sessions, conference materials, coffee breaks and lunch.

The fee amount will vary depending on the company profile. Preferential terms are planned for member companies of the Polish Chamber of Packaging and for startups. Detailed participation terms, the full programme and the list of speakers are to be published on the event website.
