KHS launches Virtual Training Center with expanded content

KHS launches Virtual Training…

KHS has expanded its training offer with KHS Campus Virtual, a browser-based learning environment that uses digital twins of equipment and complete beverage lines. The Virtual Training Center enables users to navigate machines as avatars, access interactive learning points and complete compact learning nuggets. Progress is recorded via points that function like a high score, supporting repeatable, self-paced practice. First introduced as a pilot at Drinktec three years ago, the platform has moved into serial deployment and has been marketed since March. According to KHS, the approach is designed to be flexible and to fit into short production breaks as well as longer study sessions.

The application runs online on standard office PCs without additional software or hardware requirements. Users can explore single machines or entire lines, combining visual familiarization with structured task-based content. The content covers multiple process steps in beverage production, from container manufacturing through filling to end-of-line operations, with the intention of building machine-specific and line-level competencies in small, focused units.

Learning scope and languages

The Virtual Training Center currently covers three container categories, namely cans, glass and PET. Available modules include stretch blow molders, process technology, fillers, packaging and palletizing. KHS plans to add modules for Plasmax machines, labelers and block systems in the course of 2026. At present, all content is provided in German and English. For the can module, French, Spanish and Portuguese are also available. The same language expansion for glass and PET is scheduled by the end of 2025.

Deployment and licensing

The solution progressed from a pilot shown at Drinktec to commercial availability. Marco Palme, head of KHS Training Center South and VTC project manager, said, "The app runs online on totally normal Office PCs. Our customers do not need any additional software or hardware. Users can train spontaneously at any time, for example during a short break in production and 24/7." Access is provided via a rental license obtained when purchasing a new machine or as part of after sales. For best results, the customer’s installed system should correspond to the respective digital twin used in the VTC.

KHS’ Virtual Training Center (VTC) is now ready for ‘serial’ production and has been successfully marketed since March.

Portfolio growth and in-person seminars

"The VTC is a dynamic tool that is constantly developing further," stated Palme. "Our machine portfolio is always growing, the learning content is thus being continuously expanded." In response to customer demand, KHS will also offer its in-person training as open seminars. Previously available only to exclusive groups, these courses are now open to individual participants, with initial dates already bookable online via KHS Campus.
