Innovia extends ISCC Plus certification to the Zacapú plant

Innovia extends ISCC Plus…

Innovia Films has extended the scope of its ISCC Plus certification to its production plant in Zacapú, Mexico. The company, active globally in materials science and BOPP film manufacturing for labels, graphics, packaging and tobacco applications, thereby underlines its ability to supply certified sustainable film solutions to customers worldwide. The extension of certification reinforces the implementation of Innovia's sustainability strategy and responds to growing market demand for lower-carbon materials that fit into a circular economy model.

Including the Zacapú facility in the ISCC Plus system enables Innovia Films to manufacture and supply films from the Encore portfolio using feedstocks certified as bio-circular (renewable) and circular (recycled). The announcement emphasises that this step strengthens the company's position in sustainable BOPP technologies, providing customers with access to certified solutions in different regions of the world.

Aaron Henneger, Vice President and General Manager, Innovia Films Americas, indicates that the decision to extend certification is a response both to market needs and to the company's long-term strategy. "Expanding ISCC Plus certification to our Zacapú facility reflects both strong market demand and Innovia’s long-term sustainability strategy," said Aaron Henneger, Vice President and General Manager, Innovia Films Americas. "It allows us to further scale our Encore portfolio and provide customers with certified renewable and circular film solutions, wherever they operate."

The role of the ISCC Plus system

ISCC, International Sustainability & Carbon Certification, is an independent, globally recognised certification scheme that supports the sustainable sourcing of raw materials and their traceability in international supply chains. The application of the ISCC Plus standard at the Zacapú plant enables Innovia Films to track the flow of certified feedstocks and to confirm their origin in line with customer requirements and market regulations.

The inclusion of the Mexican facility in the ISCC Plus system is part of Innovia's broader approach to developing its range of BOPP films based on renewable and recycled feedstocks, while maintaining the quality requirements for materials used in labels, graphics, packaging and tobacco applications.
