EREMA and Lindner Washtech establish EREMA India subsidiary

EREMA and Lindner Washtech…

At the Plast India trade fair on 6 February 2026, EREMA and Lindner Washtech officially announced the launch of EREMA India. Around 125 invited guests attended the ceremonial event, including customers and representatives of industry, the media, institutes and associations. The new joint sales and service company is the joint venture partners' response to the growing demand for high-quality recycling solutions in the rapidly developing Indian market. Customers gain access to consolidated expertise in washing and extrusion, covering the entire process chain from baled waste to regranulate.

With the new company, EREMA and Lindner Washtech are strengthening their presence in a market characterised by ambitious recycling targets and rapid implementation of solutions. For Indian recycling companies, EREMA India primarily means faster access to advanced technologies covering the full range of mechanical recycling and local service support. "India is one of the most dynamic markets for plastics recycling worldwide. With EREMA India, we are creating the framework to support our customers even more precisely. The close interaction between local presence and combined system expertise is the key to accompanying the Indian market in its rapid development" said Manfred Hackl, CEO of the EREMA Group, at the inauguration in New Delhi.

Joint sales and service structure in the Indian market

EREMA India is a member of the EREMA Group and brings together EREMA's extrusion technologies and Lindner Washtech's washing technologies under one roof. The establishment of the company is based on the long-standing partnership model of cooperation between the two companies on the Indian market. Newly appointed Managing Director and Partner of EREMA India, Deepak Mehta, emphasises the importance of continuing this cooperation and expanding local support structures.

"I am honoured to take on the role of Managing Director of EREMA India, building on a 27-year partnership with the EREMA Group. My focus is on shaping a strong organisation that is close to its customers providing personal support, fast service and local spare parts availability. By combining our long-standing market experience with EREMA’s and Lindner Washtech’s vision, we are strengthening our presence in this rapidly growing market. I look forward to working together to create sustainable value for India’s recycling industry" said Mehta, stressing the importance of short decision paths and local availability of spare parts.

Indian recycling market and demand for high-quality recyclates

India, with a population of around 1.47 billion, is seeing further growth in the middle class, which translates into increasing demand for consumer goods and plastic products. According to OECD data, plastics consumption in India is expected to increase more than fivefold between 2019 and 2060. In response to the growing quantities of plastic waste, the country is introducing ambitious circular economy targets and stricter extended producer responsibility (EPR) regulations. At the same time, collection and sorting systems are being expanded, which further increases the relevance of plastics recycling.

In the bottle-to-bottle segment alone, around 25 recycling plants with a total processing capacity of approximately 600,000 tonnes are planned to be installed by 2026. "The Indian market is developing at an impressive pace. The combination of regulatory tailwinds and increasing quality requirements makes India a strategically important growth market" assesses Christoph Wöss, Global Sales Director at EREMA. "Over the past two years, we have seen in bottle-to-bottle recycling how quickly implementation progresses once the regulatory framework is set. The next steps, including mandatory recycling quotas for all plastic packaging that will gradually increase to 60 percent by 2029, offer enormous potential, especially in the post-consumer sector" he adds, pointing to the impact of higher quality requirements on recyclates.

European washing and extrusion technologies for Indian recyclers

EREMA India provides Indian recyclers with access to European technologies in washing, extrusion and thermal decontamination. EREMA and Lindner Washtech supply fully coordinated process chains as part of their joint offering, designed to deliver consistent quality results at high throughput rates. This enables recycling plants to meet increasing quality requirements, including food contact standards, also for international markets.

A key element of EREMA India's operating model is the local service organisation, which is responsible for supporting line commissioning, diagnostics and after-sales activities. The availability of technology combined with service is intended to ensure high system uptime and process stability. "With strong local service support, continuous technology upgrades and a close collaboration with our customers, we are committed to transforming India into a global hub for high-quality recyclates and closed-loop recycling solutions. Lindner’s washing equipment plays a crucial role in ensuring a stable and reliable treatment process, which together with EREMA’s extrusion technology, provides recyclers with integrated system expertise enabling them to consistently produce food-grade quality, increase production efficiency and achieve long-term operational excellence" emphasises Ganesh Karankal, Sales Director and Partner of Business Unit Washing at EREMA India.

"In the bottle-to-bottle sector, our PET recycling technologies are already in successful operation with several Indian customers, giving them an edge with the best colour values and polymer properties" adds Maharshi Mehta, Sales Director of Business Unit Extrusion at EREMA India. For polyolefins such as HDPE, LDPE and PP, the integrated recycling solutions create a process chain adapted to processing complex post-consumer waste streams. "Following the washing and separating stages, the Intarema extrusion system in combination with the Refresher module reliably removes odours, ensuring the highest quality of recycled output" explains Mehta, pointing out the importance of odour control for the quality of the final regranulate.

In addition to individually configured lines, EREMA India also offers ReadyMac and ReadyWash systems in a standardised design. These solutions are aimed at customers seeking proven, efficient recycling technologies with shorter delivery times and in a lower price segment.

Two locations and a new Customer Center

The establishment of EREMA India is a continuation of the long-term successful relationships of EREMA and Lindner Washtech with their local representatives. Existing teams will be fully integrated into the new structure, bringing experience in commissioning and servicing recycling systems.

The new company operates at two locations. In Vadodara, Gujarat, there is a sales office and a Customer Center where customers will be able to carry out trials and material tests under realistic conditions. In the near future, a ReadyMac HD recycling machine equipped with an EREMA Laserfilter and laboratory equipment for quick material parameter checks will be available there for customer trials. In Mumbai, there is an additional sales and service office providing proximity and support for customers in the western and southern regions of India.
