ENGEL presents solutions for packaging and medical at Chinaplas 2026

ENGEL presents solutions for…

At Chinaplas 2026, which will take place from 21 to 24 April in Shanghai, the ENGEL Group will present six complete production solutions in live operation. The exhibit covers a wide range of industrial applications and demonstrates how efficiency, process stability and cost efficiency in serial production can be specifically improved. Two of the presented production cells are dedicated in particular to the requirements of the packaging and medical sectors, where high cavity counts, short cycle times as well as reproducible quality and cleanliness of moulded parts determine competitiveness.

All-electric packaging application for high cavity counts and short cycles

In the packaging segment, ENGEL is presenting an all-electric solution for precise and high-performance packaging production, based on an e-mac 380 injection moulding machine with a clamping force of 3,800 kN. On this compact machine, special versions of flip-top closures are manufactured in a 48-cavity mould from Cartisan using a material blend consisting of 90% high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and 10% linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE).

The production solution is designed for high output combined with precise process control, matching the requirements of applications where cost efficiency is determined by high cavity counts, short cycle times and reproducible part quality. The all-electric e-mac provides precise motion sequences, high repeatability and energy-efficient operation.

In the presented application, the part weight is 1.73 g, which results in a shot weight of around 83 g. The short cycle time is just over 10 seconds. The combination of energy-efficient drive, stable process control in multi-cavity moulds, compact footprint and integrated automation makes the all-electric ENGEL e-mac a solution tailored to highly automated serial production in the packaging segment with reduced space requirements.

The high efficiency of this production cell is further supported by digital assistance systems. The iQ clamp control system automatically optimises the clamping force, which helps to reduce energy consumption, mould wear and scrap. The iQ hold control function optimises the holding pressure without operator intervention and thereby contributes to reducing material usage and cycle time.

The iQ weight control plus system compensates in real time for fluctuations in melt viscosity by adjusting the injection volume within the same shot. This stabilises part quality and significantly reduces waste. The exhibit is additionally equipped with the iQ process observer, which analyses more than 1,000 process parameters in parallel and detects deviations at an early stage.

This provides plastics processors with transparent process monitoring including specific recommendations for action, enabling scrap to be reduced, downtime to be avoided and equipment availability to be increased. With high cavity counts, this leads to a noticeable reduction in unit manufacturing costs.

All-electric medical production with high cost efficiency

In the field of medical applications, the Wintec brand of the ENGEL Group is presenting an all-electric production cell based on an e-win 3200 injection moulding machine with a clamping force of 3,200 kN. The compact machine produces 10 ml Luer-lock syringe barrels from polypropylene in a 48-cavity mould from TK, with a part weight of 4.6 g.

To achieve a short cycle time of around 10 seconds and a clean material flow, the moulded parts are freely discharged onto a covered Z-conveyor belt. The added value of this production solution results from the combination of precise manufacturing, compact machine design and controlled part handling.

With the Wintec e-win, users receive an all-electric injection moulding solution with precise motion sequences and parallel movements, combined with a robust design and high energy efficiency. The production cell enables stable processes, high productivity and cost-efficient manufacturing within a standardised solution environment designed as a future-proof investment.

This production solution is also supported by digital assistance systems for automatic stabilisation of process control. The iQ clamp control function optimises the clamping force, iQ hold control stabilises the holding pressure and thus the cycle time, while iQ weight control plus compensates for fluctuations in material viscosity and reduces scrap.

ENGEL Group portfolio and the requirements of injection moulding

Within the ENGEL Group, Wintec offers standardised injection moulding solutions. While ENGEL focuses primarily on applications with a high degree of integration and individual process solutions, Wintec is geared towards robust and cost-efficient standard injection moulding solutions. With this positioning, the ENGEL Group covers a wide range of industrial requirements, from highly integrated production cells to cost-optimised serial solutions.

At the exhibition stand during Chinaplas 2026, six production cells will be presented in live operation, representing applications from the automotive, packaging, medical and technical moulding sectors. For plastics processors, this means access to technologically optimised production solutions that enable targeted increases in efficiency, process stability and cost efficiency.
