Coveris has announced the completion of a comprehensive €9.5 million upgrade at its Halle facility in Germany, marking a significant step forward in the company’s flexible packaging operations. The investment focuses on expanding production efficiency, improving product quality, and supporting sustainable growth, aligning with the evolving requirements of customers in various sectors, including food and medical packaging.
The site enhancement comprises three key developments. First, the installation of the F08 cast film extrusion line, which has now entered full production after successful material qualification. This advanced extrusion line enables the development of tailored packaging solutions, with a particular emphasis on recyclable monofilms suitable for thermoforming and medical applications. The flexibility offered by this new line positions the Halle plant to respond rapidly to market demands for both customization and sustainability.
Second, the facility has introduced the T9 Rotomec gravure printing press, which is now fully operational following its testing phase. This next-generation press delivers higher printing speeds, greater precision, and improved reliability, supporting the production of premium packaging with enhanced consistency and faster turnaround times. The upgrade in printing technology not only boosts output but also strengthens the site’s ability to deliver high-quality, visually appealing packaging products.
Third, a newly constructed warehouse has been added to the site, optimizing internal logistics and significantly increasing on-site storage capacity. The smart design of the warehouse streamlines workflows and material handling, resulting in more efficient operations and improved delivery performance. This logistical enhancement supports the plant’s capability to manage increased production volumes and meet customer delivery expectations more effectively.
Strategic significance and future outlook
According to Coveris, these investments reinforce the strategic importance of the Halle site within the company’s European manufacturing network. By strengthening its portfolio of sustainable monofilm solutions and elevating its rotoprinting capabilities, Coveris Halle is now better equipped to address customer requirements for both sustainability and product customization. The site stands as a benchmark for innovation and operational excellence in the flexible packaging sector.
Michael Schrameyer, Managing Director of Coveris Flexibles Germany, emphasized the long-term vision behind the project, stating that the completed investment demonstrates the company’s commitment to delivering high-performance packaging solutions. With the new capabilities in place, the Halle facility is prepared to meet evolving market demands with greater agility and quality.
The €9.5 million upgrade is part of Coveris’ broader mission to future-proof its manufacturing network and to deliver value through smart, sustainable growth. The enhancements at Halle are expected to contribute to the company’s ability to provide innovative, efficient, and environmentally responsible packaging solutions across its customer base.
