Arburg celebrates 25 years in Malaysia

Arburg celebrates 25 years… On 15 September 2017, the Arburg subsidiary in Malaysia celebrated its 25th anniversary with around 150 invited guests. As the occasion demanded, a high-ranking delegation from the German parent company, including Managing Partner Juliane Hehl and Managing Director Sales Gerhard Böhm, also attended. As part of the festive evening event, Juliane Hehl presented the traditional Arburg anniversary sculpture. Another highlight was the presentation of the "Arburg Customer Awards 2017".

In her speech, Managing Partner Juliane Hehl emphasised the achievements of the Arburg subsidiary: "I am extremely impressed with what our team in Malaysia has achieved over the last quarter century. Our employees have always been and will continue to be there for our customers - in line with our brand promise "Wir sind da."

Thanks to both staff and customers

Juliane Hehl thanked the subsidiary team on behalf of the owner families and the entire Arburg parent company. In recognition of 25 years of successful work and as encouragement for the coming decades, she presented the anniversary sculpture to the subsidiary manager, Visu Nagappa and head of the ASEAN region, David Chan.

Managing Director Sales Gerhard Böhm also expressed his thanks to the staff and, in particular, to the customers for the trust they had placed in Arburg and for the successful cooperation over the past years: "This confirms that we chose the right path decades ago and our ongoing investments in this market have paid dividends."

First Allrounder in Malaysia in 1989

Arburg's activities in Malaysia began as early as 1989 with the sale of the first two Allrounders. One of these was sold to what is now Today’s Plastics Industries Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur, whose owner, Mr. Woon Then Yew, was among the guests at the event.

As the Malaysian market developed very quickly and positively in the subsequent years, Arburg opened a subsidiary of its own in 1992. "This was a significant milestone for us and marked an important step towards the successful development of our company in the Asian region," said Gerhard Böhm. Just four years later, the company moved to new premises, doubling the usable area to 250 square metres and expanding the range of services. "In addition to the performance of the Allrounder, customers also appreciate our comprehensive know-how and our extensive range of services and consulting," said the Managing Director Sales, drawing attention to the telephone hotline, the expert service technicians, the spare parts store, the showroom and the training options available at the Malaysian subsidiary

Arburg represented in all industries

Initially, Arburg's customers were mainly small family-run businesses that worked with between 10 and 20 machines. Over the past decades, many global players have also invested in Malaysia, with a view to produce plastic products there. The machine fleets now comprise between 50 and 100 Allrounders, enabling high-quality plastic parts to be produced for the packaging, medical technology and automotive industries, as well as for the electrical and electronics sector. Northern Malaysia in particular is increasingly developing into a centre for medical technology, with the manufacture of disposable medical items and equipment.

"Arburg Customer Awards" presented

Specially selected customers were awarded "Arburg Customer Awards 2017" in four categories during the anniversary celebrations.

The companies Clipsal Manufacturing, Intercosmo Industries, ITL Asia Pacific, Juken Technology Engineering, Luster Precision Engineering, PMM Components, Wan Cheng Plastic Industries, Zeito Plastic Components and Fu Hao Manufacturing were awarded with the "Shining Star Award".

The "Golden Star Award" was given to the companies Prestige Dynamics Industries, Combi-Pack and Deutsche Technoplast Melaka.

The "Rising Star Award" was won by the company Plasticmate and the "All Star Awards" went to the companies B. Braun Medical Industries, Widetech Manufacturing and Valeo Penang.
