Arburg will complement its K 2025 presence with a daily series of expert lectures in the arburgGREENworld pavilion, located in the open-air area in front of Hall 16. The program brings together industry and academic speakers addressing microplastics in waterways, ocean-bound plastics, biochar and CO2-negative compounds, e-fuels in motorsport, energy efficiency in injection moulding and the processing of recyclates. The agenda highlights various aspects of plastics as a recyclable material and practical approaches that support circularity. In parallel, Arburg will participate in selected English-language theme days at the VDMA Power of Plastics Forum and contribute to the Women in Plastics networking event. Attendees can also meet specialists from Arburg and partner organisations on site to continue the technical dialogue, with a barista service available in the pavilion.
Program highlights in the arburgGREENworld pavilion
The lecture line-up includes Prof. Andreas Fath of Furtwangen University, known for the "cleandanube" and "pureelbe" campaigns, who will report on his initiatives to combat microplastics in rivers by swimming their full length for scientific sampling. Healix CEO Marcel Albers will outline how "ocean-bound plastics" can be returned to the plastics cycle, a concept illustrated by a pavilion exhibit that uses recycled material from discarded fishing nets to mould model dolphins. Prof. Hans-Josef Endres from the Institute of Plastics and Circular Economy (IKK) at Leibniz Universität Hannover will address recyclate processing challenges and options to optimise energy consumption during injection moulding.
Alternative materials and low-carbon strategies are another focus. Harry Unflath, Head of Sports Marketing at ABT Sportsline GmbH, will discuss the use of environmentally friendly e-fuels in DTM motorsport. Thomas Faißt, a charcoal burner, and Torsten Becker, CEO of the start-up carbonauten, will present biochar extraction from plants and pathways to CO2-negative compounds. From Arburg, Applications Manager Circular Economy Luca Simon will explain approaches to reducing the CO2 footprint of injection moulding machines and provide an overview of the company’s sustainability activities. Arburg trainees will introduce the "Carbon Busters" initiative of the VDMA association, and Product Management Manager Miriam Lutz will present the Frauen@Arburg network and the role of women in shaping a sustainable future.
