Polytives GmbH, a specialist in the development and production of polymer additives, has started cooperation with Canadian distributor Simcoe Plastics Ltd. Under the agreement, Simcoe Plastics takes over the distribution of Polytives additives in the Canadian market with immediate effect. The parties also declare their intention to jointly expand sales activities into further areas of North America. In practice, this means combining the German manufacturer's technological base with the local market presence of its commercial partner, which has been active in plastics distribution for 46 years. Simcoe Plastics is to serve as the local point of contact, providing consulting and sales support directly on site. As a result, plastics processors in Canada will gain direct access to additives developed by the company from Rudolstadt in Thuringia. As stated in the information provided, Canada is seen as an important future market for German industry. At the same time, the country is expanding capacity in the recycling of critical raw materials and plastics, which is expected to support growing demand for more advanced technological solutions.
Statements from representatives of both companies indicate that the cooperation is intended to address both processing efficiency needs and growing sustainability expectations. Polytives Managing Director Viktoria Rothleitner said: "Canada is a key strategic market for us, one that actively drives innovation and sustainability. We are counting on our partner's many years of experience to help us successfully enter this important market." In turn, Kurt Stahle, President of Simcoe Plastics Ltd., said: "Our customers in North America are increasingly looking for ways to make their production more sustainable without compromising on quality. With Polytives' innovative additives, we are providing them with high-quality materials for more efficient and resource-saving processing."
Characteristics of the additives offered
According to the information provided by the company, Polytives additives are intended to support the reduction of the carbon footprint in production, among other things by enabling processing at lower temperatures, which translates into energy savings. The manufacturer also states that these are migration-stable additives, free of PFAS and silicones. They can be used in applications intended for food contact and are compatible with commonly used polymers, including recycled and bio-based plastics.
The company notes that its solutions are intended for thermoplastics and are designed to enable optimisation of manufacturing processes, for example by reducing energy consumption, shortening cycle times and widening the processing window. In the company description, it is stated that Polytives develops, produces and sells polymeric additives with these properties from its site in Rudolstadt, Germany. According to the information presented, the company aims to make its additive technology available across the widest possible range of polymer applications.
Importance of the cooperation for the North American market
The partnership between Polytives and Simcoe Plastics is presented as a combination of technological competence and market experience. The release emphasises that both companies treat sustainability as an integral element of their corporate strategy and want to jointly translate these assumptions into solutions applicable in the North American plastics industry. At the current stage, the cooperation covers distribution in Canada, but the parties also announce further development of commercial activity in other regions of North America.
