Krones strengthens its portfolio through acquisitions in process technology

Krones strengthens its portfolio…

Krones has broadened its portfolio in both process technology and filling and packaging equipment through two targeted acquisitions. The company purchased a 60% stake in GHS Separationstechnik GmbH and completed the full takeover of Can Systems Worldwide Holding B.V. These transactions extend Krones’ access to decanter centrifuges for solid-liquid separation as well as specialized machinery for handling can ends. The technologies addressed by the deals are applied across multiple markets, including vegetable oils, juices, alternative food products and PET recycling, and serve international customers in the beer, beverage and food industries. CSW will continue to operate independently and maintain its established level of service and product quality for its customers.

The stake in GHS provides Krones with decanter centrifuges and associated process technology for solid-liquid separation. This equipment is used in upstream and downstream process steps in food and recycling applications, notably in the production of vegetable oils and juices, the processing of alternative food products and the treatment of PET recycling streams. In parallel, the CSW acquisition strengthens Krones’ position in can-end handling, an important part of canning lines for beverages and food. With both moves, Krones is consolidating key equipment categories that complement its existing process, filling and packaging portfolio.

Process technology expansion through GHS stake

In early July, Krones acquired 60% of the shares in GHS Separationstechnik GmbH, based in Landshut, Germany. The investment secures access to decanter centrifuges, together with the associated process technology for solid-liquid separation. These systems are used in the processing of vegetable oils, juices, alternative food products and PET recycling. GHS employs around 25 full-time staff and generated revenues of approximately €10 million in 2024.

Can-handling portfolio broadened with CSW acquisition

On 16 September, Krones acquired 100% of the shares in Can Systems Worldwide Holding B.V. (CSW), a Dutch manufacturer and supplier of specialised machinery and equipment for handling can ends. From its headquarters in Deventer, Netherlands, CSW serves international customers in the beer, beverage and food industries. The company has around 35 full-time employees and generated revenues of approximately €20 million in 2024. CSW will continue to operate as an independent entity and will maintain its established level of service and product quality for its customers.
