Wittmann will present the S-Max primus, a screenless granulator for in-line recycling, at K 2025 in Hall 15, Booth B22. The compact unit is designed to operate directly beside injection molding machines and will be available from mid-October 2025 in two variants designated 2 and 3 for presses with clamping forces of up to 150 and 400 tons, respectively. Operating at a low speed of 27 rpm at 50 Hz, the S-Max primus is specified for all engineering plastics, including styrene and acrylate plastics as well as glass fiber reinforced materials. The low-speed concept reduces noise emissions, energy consumption and dust formation. Combined with the screenless design, it yields a homogeneous regrind that supports a high share of good parts when reprocessing the material in injection molding. Product development emphasized long service life and low maintenance. A fully accessible cutting chamber facilitates cleaning in just a few steps and enables quick material changes. Wittmann’s trade fair claim is "Smart Choices, Smart Savings".
Variants and integration
The S-Max primus is offered in two variants for direct beside-the-press use. The 2 variant is aimed at applications up to 150 tons of clamping force, while the 3 variant covers up to 400 tons. The machine can be compactly integrated into existing plant layouts. The variants differ in cutting chamber dimensions, the number of cutters and the motor power.
Low-speed, screenless operation
At 27 rpm and 50 Hz, the granulator’s low-speed operation limits noise, lowers energy demand and minimizes dust generation. The absence of a screen supports consistent regrind quality with very homogeneous regrind, contributing to a high proportion of good parts when recycled material is fed back into injection molding. A focus on durability aims to extend the service life of the grinding tools. Overall maintenance requirements are low, supported by the screenless design and the fully accessible cutting chamber that enables fast, straightforward cleaning and quick material changes.
The S-Max primus celebrates its premiere at K 2025. The screenless granulator supports resource-saving inline recycling.
