Gabriel-Chemie completes expansion of Hungarian site

Gabriel-Chemie completes expansion…

Gabriel-Chemie Group has announced the completion and official opening of a major expansion at its Hungarian production site in Nyíregyháza. The project represents an investment of around €6.5 million aimed at supporting growth, strengthening long-term competitiveness and reaffirming the company’s commitment to the location. The group has operated its own subsidiary in Hungary since 2003, and the modernised facility is positioned to secure continued development for the organisation in the region.

The expansion significantly increases usable space across the site. Office space has been enlarged from 244 m² to 720 m², warehouse space from 300 m² to 1,000 m² and production space from 540 m² to 1,190 m². A dedicated maintenance area of 120 m² has been established for the first time, providing capacity for systematic upkeep and servicing of equipment. In parallel, production infrastructure has been designed to scale with market needs while improving process reliability and operational efficiency across the plant.

Production capacities have been substantially enhanced. The number of production lines can now be increased from 10 to up to 19, enabling a potential annual output of up to 2,500 tonnes. This added headroom is intended to support future demand and provide flexibility in scheduling, product changeovers and line utilisation.

Beyond the building expansion, the company invested in modern, energy-efficient technology. Upgrades include a new cooling water system, a dust extraction system with fresh air supply, a transition to an air-source heat pump and air conditioning in all offices. These measures are focused on improving process stability, workplace comfort and energy performance across the facility.

A notable element of the project is the planned photovoltaic system of around 250 kWp, expected to make a significant contribution to the site’s energy supply. With this installation, Gabriel-Chemie Group will operate its third site equipped with a photovoltaic system, extending the company’s on-site renewable generation capacity.

“With the completion of this expansion, we have not only significantly increased our capacities but also laid the foundation for the sustainable and future-oriented development of Gabriel-Chemie Group,” said Andreas Berger, Chief Commercial & Operating Officer.
