Evonik to present polymer and circularity advances at K 2025

Evonik to present polymer…

Evonik will present new materials and sustainability initiatives in polymer chemistry at K 2025, taking place from October 8 to 15 in Düsseldorf, Germany. The company positions K-Fair as a forum to engage with industrial users of its materials and to discuss current and future application needs. According to Dominic Stoerkle, head of Evonik’s High Performance Polymers’ Long Chain Polyamides product line, "The K-Fair always provides excellent opportunities to interact one-on-one with industrial users of our materials and discuss how our forward-looking innovations can help them solve their current and future challenges." He noted that VESTAMID, long established as a polyamide 12 solution for automotive line systems, is now also used in busbars and other battery and charging systems for electric vehicles. Evonik’s exhibit will focus on circular economy approaches for plastics and packaging, innovative materials for manufacturing processes, and certified low-carbon material production. The company plans to highlight recent achievements in more sustainable polymers, additive solutions for plastics recycling, and advanced polymers for mobility, consumer goods and additive manufacturing, alongside an agenda of booth demonstrations and panel discussions.

Sustainability and lifecycle assessments

Evonik will present polyamide 12 materials from its VESTAMID and INFINAM portfolios that are produced via a mass-balanced certified process. The company states that this approach can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 70 percent. A panel discussion on sustainability will address how lifecycle assessments influence business development and strategic decisions. Lifecycle assessments for a range of VESTAMID and Trogamid products are publicly available on Evonik’s Plastics Database, which can be accessed at https://www.plastics-database.com.

Additives for recycling and circular packaging

Evonik will highlight additive solutions designed to improve mechanical recycling, including Tego Cycle WA 111 and Tego RES 1100. Used together in the wet stage, these products are intended to remove inks, labels and residues to support the production of high-quality recyclates. Tego Antifoam KS 53 will be presented for foam control to maintain process stability and safety, and it meets food contact standards for selected applications. In addition, Tego PPA grades are positioned as a sustainable alternative to PFAS-based processing additives, aiming to enhance packaging quality while reducing environmental impact. The booth program features demonstrations of these solutions, as well as an interactive exhibit from the Next Markets Program outlining a vision for circular plastics with a focus on chemical recycling and pyrolysis oil. According to Evonik, specialized solutions can remove impurities to improve storage stability and flow properties.

Materials for mobility and consumer goods

New VESTAMID grades will be shown for advanced automotive systems, including use in power busbars and battery cooling lines. Evonik will also display VESTAKEEP PEEK materials for future applications, ranging from medical devices to automotive components. In sporting goods, VESTAMID E elastomers will be presented for midsole applications in high-end athletic footwear, combining low density, impact strength and flexibility. Samples of meltblown nonwoven materials based on VESTAMID will be exhibited, indicating potential in textiles, filtration and other uses due to their lightweight, fleece-like characteristics.

Additive manufacturing portfolio and program details

Evonik will showcase INFINAM PA12 materials for polymer-based 3D printing, highlighting the potential of additive manufacturing in industrial applications. The company’s exhibit will be located in Hall 6, booth D79, with demonstrations scheduled throughout the event. The panel discussion on lifecycle assessments will take place on Friday, October 10, at 12:30 pm in Hall 6, C40. Additional sessions include a leadership panel on competitiveness and sustainability on Wednesday, October 8, at 11:15 am, a discussion on the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation on Thursday, October 9, at 11:15 am, and a Women in Plastics networking event on Sunday, October 12, at 4 pm, all in Hall 6, C40.
