Erema wins award for Volex recycling technology

Erema wins award for Volex…

At the Plastics Recycling Show Europe, held in Amsterdam on 5-6 May 2026, recycling machinery manufacturer Erema received the Plastics Recycling Award Europe 2026 in the "Recycling Machinery Innovation" category. The award was presented for the Volex technology, which, according to the company, significantly improves degassing performance in mechanical plastics recycling. The distinction relates to a solution addressing the growing requirements placed on recycled materials, particularly in applications with higher quality demands. The jury highlighted the technology's level of innovation and its ability to achieve high degassing efficiency. According to the information provided, the VOC, or volatile organic compounds, content in recycled pellets is up to 40 per cent lower than with the Intarema Tveplus degassing system and up to 75 per cent lower than in the input material. At the same time, the technology is said to significantly reduce fogging effects, which are particularly relevant in injection moulding applications.

Clemens Kitzberger, Business Development Manager at the Erema Group, who accepted the award in Amsterdam, said: "We are delighted to receive this award. With the Volex technology, we are addressing concrete market requirements in post-consumer recycling arising from PPWR and other regulatory frameworks. What is crucial is the ability to achieve high regranulate quality in a scalable and economically viable way. We see clear value for our customers in being able to supply more recycled content for higher-value end products." The Volex technology with water stripping was unveiled by Erema at K 2025. The company states that, based on experience gained from market introduction and various material trials, the process has since been further optimised. Volex is now also available in a version without water injection, enabling recycling companies to select a configuration suited to specific process requirements.

Award presented at Plastics Recycling Show Europe

The Plastics Recycling Awards Europe are jointly presented by Plastics Recyclers Europe and Crain Communications, the organiser of the Plastics Recycling Show Europe. This year's distinction for Erema concerns innovation in recycling machinery and focuses on a solution intended to improve recycled pellet quality through more effective removal of unwanted volatile components.
