Entering a new age for Gabriel-Chemie

The group is proud to announce that Stefanie Sommer, daughter of CEO Elisabeth Sommer, and granddaughter of founder Josef Houska, will take over a new important strategic role in the company. Stefanie Sommer will assume the role of Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer (CSO) with immediate effect.

As a still second-generation owner-managed family business, Gabriel-Chemie is today one of Europe’s leading masterbatch producers after almost 70 years of existence. A long-term and, above all, sustainable strategy is therefore a priority that focuses on delivering high quality and innovation. Sustainability has been a strong focus for Gabriel-Chemie in recent years. Responsibility and awareness of resource-efficient processes pave the way for the group into the future. As Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer Stefanie Sommer will support the Board of Management in creating strategic goals. Her core task is to formulate and transfer the company strategy and the arising strategic initiatives into operational planning.

The upcoming generations in the family business are adding their voice to the drive for sustainability. The group-wide initiatives to support the sustainability-strategy also include NIR (near infrared) products, PCR (post consumer recycling) masterbatches, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), awareness, circular economy and recycling, brand identity & personality. During the implementation of these goals she will focus on the alignment of decisions with the owner family’s economic, ecologic and social values.

First overall impression at the K 2019

The Gabriel-Chemie Group will once again be in Hall 5, Booth B40 and presents itself with a new booth design as well as numerous new, innovative solutions and product demonstrations.

With the launch at the Fakuma 2018 of the custom developed platform Master Of Batch the product sector of Gabriel-Chemie was penetrated by the digital and networked world. The Smart Search Tool launched last year with Master Of Colours will be complemented this year with the extension Master Of Additives. This is because in addition to the colouration of plastics, Gabriel-Chemie is a specialist in the refining of plastics with functional additives. Countless additive and polymer combinations ranging from antiblock masterbatch to laser additives to UV stabilisers, make up the constantly growing range of products, which is continually adapted to meet the needs of the market. With Master Of Additives customers and potential customers can easily find compatible products by filtering the fitting parameters and selecting the right polymer types.

Main focus on new taggant technology series

Plastic parts provided with an individual DNA, a signature for identity like a fingerprint? The product authentication and possible security concerns are adressed by appropriate markers or so-called taggants. That’s why a new product series is therefore called Taggant Technology Series - in short TagTec and is offered, in addition to predefined application modules, as a customised solution for specific requirements. An overview of the basic functionality of the TagTec series and a selection of different application options, is presented by Gabriel-Chemie in Düsseldorf together with the partners ALPLA and Wittmann Battenfeld (hall 15, booth C06). As a specialist for the development and production of user-specific sensors Sensor Instruments from Germany will be presented as Gabriel-Chemies‘ development partner for TagTec sensors.

New partner project to increase reusable packaging sustainability

Gabriel-Chemie reveals reusable packaging made with laser marking masterbatch and Bockatech EcoCore polypropylene foaming technology. Bockatech EcoCore is a new manufacturing technology platform for plastics that are used to create sustainable, lightweight, insulated, strong and durable mouldings. Laser marking masterbatch allows EcoCore containers to feature unique identifiers such as QR codes. These identifiers are used by retailers to give consumers rewards, via smartphone apps for example, to boost environmentally friendly reuse and recycling. The leading-edge technology is powering innovation that is cutting cost and environmental impact while improving the customers experiences. More information: www.bockatech.com
