Ecomondo, organized by Italian Exhibition Group, will be held on 4–7 November 2025 at the Rimini Exhibition Centre, bringing together companies, academia and institutions around the circular economy and the green and blue economy. The event will cover 166,000 m² and will be divided into seven thematic macro-areas, including the water cycle, resource efficiency, the bioeconomy and environmental monitoring. Beyond the exhibition, a broad conference program, prepared by the Ecomondo Scientific and Technical Committee chaired by Prof. Fabio Fava, will provide up-to-date information on European policies, technological solutions and projects linking the public sector, science and industry. The planned sessions aim to support stakeholder dialogue and accelerate the implementation of practices aligned with the green transition. The program includes cross-cutting events, including the returning Africa Green Growth Forum and the two-day General States of the Green Economy, serving as a hub for debate on decarbonization and sustainable resource management. It will be complemented by presentations of European and Mediterranean initiatives focusing on cooperation, capacity building, and digital and nature-based solutions.
Conference program and key thematic areas
In the habitats and soil remediation sector, the fourth edition of the conference General States: soil health, circular bioeconomy and opportunities for soil regeneration will be held, organized by the Ecomondo Scientific and Technical Committee, the Re Soil Foundation and the National Coordination Council for the Bioeconomy. The program will cover the latest advances in the bioeconomy and a review of European policies, including the Soil Monitoring Law, the new European Bioeconomy Strategy and the Vision for agriculture and food. The benefits of the EU mission "A Soil Deal for Europe" will also be presented, both at European and national level, along with projects linking soil health, agriculture and innovation in Europe and Africa.
In the environmental monitoring and Earth observation area, the conference From sky to ground: Earth observation for the sustainable management of critical raw materials is planned, prepared by the Ecomondo Scientific and Technical Committee in cooperation with the Polytechnic University of Turin, CINECA and the Space Agency. The event will show how Earth observation technologies and satellite data are changing capabilities to monitor, assess and manage environmental impacts and critical raw material supply chains.
In the resource efficiency and circular economy sector, the topic Technological solutions for resource recovery from end-of-life products and materials in the Mediterranean region will be discussed, organized by the Italian Chemical Society, CABC Division, ISWA International and ATIA, ISWA. Technological innovations enabling improved resource reuse and environmental benefits across different sectors will be presented.
In the water cycle and blue economy area, a conference comprising two sessions will be held: European and Mediterranean nature-based, digital and cyber-physical initiatives for innovative water management. The event is prepared by the Ecomondo Scientific and Technical Committee in cooperation with the European Commission, UTILITALIA, IRSA-CNR, Marche Polytechnic University, ISPRA, WATER4ALL and Water Europe. It will present initiatives combining nature-based solutions with digital and cyber-physical solutions for more efficient water management. Projects on nature protection, quality, distribution, treatment and circularity will be discussed, supporting collaboration among institutions, researchers and industry.
In the circular and regenerative bioeconomy area, the conference What bioeconomy for the next generation? Education, innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities in the Mediterranean basin and in Africa is planned, organized by the Ecomondo Scientific and Technical Committee and the Italian Cluster for the Circular Bioeconomy. The discussion will focus on the role of young people in the bioeconomy, including access to decision-making processes, rural-to-urban migration and the demand for new skills. Initiatives to create attractive jobs, support youth entrepreneurship and expand interdisciplinary training will be presented. Particular attention will be paid to the Mediterranean region and Africa, where the sustainable use of biological resources can foster food security, employment and social stability.
The Africa Green Growth Forum will also return at Ecomondo 2025, dedicated to international cooperation and partnerships with countries in the Mediterranean basin and Africa.
General States of the Green Economy
On 4 and 5 November, the General States of the Green Economy will take place, prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security and promoted by the National Council for the Green Economy with the support of the Foundation for Sustainable Development. The event is the central point of policy debate at Ecomondo. The participatory process engages companies, institutions and policymakers in an open discussion aimed at developing concrete proposals on decarbonization, sustainable resource management and urban mobility.
