Dr. Boy GmbH & Co. KG, together with its Swedish distribution partner AWI Maskin AB, will present a compact automation solution for plastics processing at this year's Elmia Polymer 2026. The event will take place from 19 to 22 May 2026 in Jönköping, Sweden, and is regarded as the most important industry platform for the plastics and rubber industry in Scandinavia. The centrepiece of the stand will be a Boy 35 E injection moulding machine equipped with an igus handling system mounted under the machine cover to reduce the required space. During the demonstration, the machine will produce food-preserving clips live. The two individual injection-moulded parts will then be assembled by the handling system into finished clips. The presentation is intended to show a practical example of efficient automated production that at the same time requires only a minimal footprint.
Commenting on the importance of the trade fair and the cooperation with Boy, Malin Andersen, Managing Director of AWI Maskin AB, said: "Elmia Polymer is the most important trade fair for the plastics and polymers industry in Scandinavia. Together with Boy, we are presenting an exceptionally attractive automated cell with a small footprint. We are confident that this solution will persuade even companies loyal to their existing brands to consider Boy as a reliable and forward-looking alternative. German quality, made in Germany. Visit us at booth C00:08."
Boy states that the presented installation is another example of its expertise in energy-efficient, space-saving injection moulding machines and tailored automation concepts for a wide range of applications.
Automated production demonstration at the stand
The presentation at Elmia Polymer 2026 focuses on a practical demonstration of a complete production cell in operation. The use of an igus handling system integrated under the machine cover is intended to reduce space requirements, which is particularly important where production space is limited. The production of two injection-moulded components and their subsequent assembly into a finished product will take place within a single technology demonstration. The solution presented by Boy and AWI Maskin AB responds to market demand for automated production stations that combine a compact design with the functionality required in plastics processing.
