Amcor has launched a new 38 mm handle for PET containers, expanding its portfolio of solutions for the beverage market. The product was designed with user convenience in mind, including a firm grip to make the packaging easier to carry. The solution is intended for water and other non-carbonated beverages. The handle fits bottles with a 38 mm neck and is compatible with the Proxima tethered closure and other beverage closures from Amcor. It can be used on large PET containers of up to 10 litres, a segment in which the company sees growing market demand. When combined with the closure, the 38 mm variant reduces weight by 34.5% compared with the 48 mm version. The design also includes retention tabs that hold the handle securely and tightly on the bottle neck.
According to the manufacturer, the solution responds to growing consumer interest in water and non-carbonated beverages sold in containers with volumes of 5 to 10 litres. According to Uli Kobert, product line manager for Beverage Closures & Home Care Triggers at Amcor, "this new 38 mm handle comes at the right time, with more consumers demanding water or non-carbonated beverages in containers of between 5 and 10 litres". He added that "it is a solution that is convenient for the consumer and makes it easier to carry".
Growing segment of larger packaging
Amcor indicates that factors supporting growth in the 5-10 litre packaging segment include bulk purchases for the home, office or camping. Durable bottles in this format are intended to provide convenience in use, and the new handle is meant to address the needs of a developing market.
Uli Kobert also highlighted the importance of the company’s technical capabilities: "Our technical expertise means that we are able to launch this addition to our line-up of handles, serving a sector that demands an easy-to-use and robust innovation".
