At this year's Plastpol trade fair, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Polska will present at stand 16 in hall 6 a solution that undoubtedly sets new standards in modern manufacturing for the medical sector. The centrepiece of the display is the advanced all-electric IntElect2 S 100/470-460 injection moulding machine, offering exceptional operating precision and designed for the most demanding applications in clean environments. Another noteworthy element will be a standalone presentation of the SAM-C robot, showcasing the full advantages of the company's in-house automation series.
IntElect2 S and SAM-C robot in modern manufacturing for the medical sector
This series of injection moulding machines stands out not only for its exceptional precision and process repeatability, but also for its full compliance with the stringent standards applicable to medical manufacturing. The use of electric drive technology translates into stable operation, minimised emissions of contaminants, and maximum control over every stage of the process.
The IntElect2 S injection moulding machine on display is fully integrated with an in-house robot from the SAM-C series, creating a compact, extremely fast and precise production cell. In this cell, insulin capsules will be produced in an 8-cavity mould. This production setup was designed for the most demanding applications in clean environments. Automatic part removal is handled by the company's SAM-C robot, which in its standard configuration features a robust, compact design and high-quality SHI servo motors. The robot concept also incorporates an improved approach to cleanliness through optimised linear guides and drive technology, effectively reducing the risk of contamination of both the product and the tooling.
Of particular importance in this production setup is the integration of Kistler Instrumente AG's ComoNeoPREDICT predictive system with the myAssist data analysis tool. The system predicts the quality of each component during the injection moulding process itself. The software automatically generates test plans, supports model creation, and evaluates in real time whether the predicted quality parameters fall within defined tolerances. Thanks to myAssist and ComoNeoPREDICT, processors benefit from consistently safeguarded and easy-to-interpret quality and process monitoring, without additional effort.
The entire production cell was designed for operation in cleanroom environments, making it an ideal solution for the medical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. The minimalist, carefully refined dimensions of the display additionally underline the innovative character of the technology presented.
Production benefits of the in-house SAM-C robot
As an example of the next stage in the development of the SAM-C series, a SAM-C robot with the latest features will be presented at the company's stand. The mechanical design of the SAM-C series has been further optimised to make the best possible use of the available space in the production environment. This means that SAM-C robots can now also operate in plants with particularly low ceiling heights. The mechanical design also offers all cleanliness-related advantages, combined with high system availability. These strengths are complemented by software optimised for the injection moulding process, valued by users for its low-code programming.
Robots from the SAM-C series have been designed to work seamlessly with all-electric IntElect series injection moulding machines, combining compact design, high flexibility and software integration for smooth and coordinated production.
We look forward to meeting you at our stand 16 in hall 6 during Plastpol.
