Boy to present redesigned machines at Fakuma 2026
Dr. Boy GmbH & Co. KG will present seven exhibits in the new design at Fakuma 2026. The display will include electromechanical and servo-hydraulic injection moulding machines, automation solutions and micro-injection moulding applications.
Dr. Boy GmbH & Co. KG will present all seven exhibits in their new design for the first time at Fakuma 2026, held from 12 to 16 October. In addition to the electromechanical models, all servo-hydraulic injection moulding machines have now also been updated to the new design. In hall A7, booth 7101, Boy will show a representative cross-section of its product portfolio, supplemented by three further injection moulding machines at a partner booth. Visitors will be able to see a total of four automated exhibits, intended to demonstrate what can be implemented within a very small footprint. The company’s presentation will cover compact handling integration, electromechanical injection moulding, liquid silicone rubber processing, micro-injection moulding and vertical insert moulding applications.
Compact handling system integrated in the machine
A highlight of the trade fair presentation will be the new LR 5 Compact linear handling system. In this space-saving solution, the LR 5 Compact, including the conveyor belt, is fully integrated below the protective cover of the Boy 35 Electric, without any additional safety fence and therefore without the need for EM67 and EM78.
The footprint is reduced from approximately 5.2 to 3.1 m² compared to a machine with an external protective enclosure, with a required ceiling height of 2.6 m. The entire unit remains fully transportable. The LR 5 Compact is controlled via the Procan ALPHA 6 machine control system and is therefore fully integrated. This is intended to simplify process set-up and enable integrated data and error management. According to the company, the elimination of Euromap interfaces and the additional handling controller also makes the system attractive from a cost perspective. During the production of oil pourers, the new "electromechanical unscrewing" option will also be presented.
Electromechanical exhibits and LSR application
Another exhibit will be the Electric Barista. This combination of mechanical engineering, robotics and coffee preparation has already been shown at previous trade fairs. At the Boy 50 Electric, a collaborative robot will serve freshly prepared espressos in specially moulded cups made from NAS 30 ECO.
The third and largest electromechanical injection moulding machine, the Boy 100 Electric, will be used for a silicone application based on LSR, liquid silicone rubber. Foldable funnels will be produced and placed onto a conveyor belt with the support of the integrated LR 5.
Boy states that its electromechanical injection moulding machines are designed for precise injection, high dynamics and reduced cycle times enabled by parallel movements. The machines also feature positioning accuracy and a lubricant-free mould mounting area. Within their respective clamping force classes, the Electric series machines are described by the company as the most compact machines available on the market.
Micro-injection moulding and compact production cells
Boy will also focus on micro-injection moulding and will present two of its smallest injection moulding machines, the Boy XS E, side by side. The two machines, each with a clamping force of 100 kN, will produce extremely small medical micro-parts that are almost invisible to the naked eye. One application will process LSR, while the other will use a medical-grade PLA of the Resomer LR 704 S type. Each machine is equipped with a full-size 8 mm screw which, as in all Boy machines, operates on a first-in, first-out basis.
On the vertical insert moulding machine Boy 35 E VV with automation, tool star handles with HEX 3, 4 and 5 will be produced within a minimal footprint. A flexible separation system from Variobotic is used, positioned directly on the machine frame to save space.
The exhibits will be completed by the Boy 20 E PRO, on which so-called "battery beer crates" will be produced. The small injection-moulded plastic beer crate serves as a storage box for batteries. The Boy 20 E PRO is the entry-level model and can be offered at a particularly attractive price due to its reduced range of features and the proven Procan ALPHA 4 control system. According to Boy, there are no compromises in terms of energy efficiency, as the machine uses the same servo-motor drive technology as all Boy injection moulding machines in the E-Series.
